While the Chamonix-based ski designers at Black Crows have made their name with big mountain freeride and touring skis, they've reserved some magic for us on-piste rippers, as well. The Balck Crows Vertis skis are 85- millimeters underfoot, which perfectly balances stability and energy in a surprisingly lightweight chassis. With that narrow footprint and moderate tip rocker profile, it's no surprise that this carver gets you in and out of turns quickly and smoothly on corduroy. After all, its medium-stiff flex and snappy rebound is purpose-built for high performance on the frontside of the mountain. What might surprise you, though, is how versatile the Vertis can be. In bumps and tight trees, the light construction makes this ski feel nimble and slashable, and it has enough spine to blast through chopped up ungroomed terrain. Ideally suited for intermediate to advanced skiers who spend most of their time on-trail and in a carved turn, the Vertis is an awesome choice for skiers who are progressing and learning the art of the pure carve. This is one of those sneaky skis, though, that on paper, doesn’t look like it does a whole lot, but when you get it on your feet, it really comes to life. This gives the Vertis a higher-end feel than the width and application may indicate, allowing for a greater range of skiers to enjoy. If you prioritize on-piste charging, but still venture beyond corduroy, the Black Crows Vertis will not let you down.
