Built with a paulownia wood core, these skis are pretty light, coming in at 1215 grams per ski in the 162. That’s well below the 1500-gram threshold that we normally point to for a hybrid touring ski, placing this TX93 W squarely into the touring category. They use thinner fiberglass laminates on the top and the bottom of the ski, in addition to wrapping that wood core in a blend of carbon and fiberglass. All told, this thing has some sophisticated construction to it, allowing skiers to make the most of both the ups and the downs.
At 93 mm underfoot, these skis have a ton of versatility built in, making it easy to access a variety of terrain and snow conditions. We often talk about the mid-90's as a great place to be for true versatility and it sits squarely in that one-ski quiver type of realm. Thanks to Kastle’s construction and shaping, you can use this ski anywhere you want, from distant mountain peaks to your own backyard—there are not many limitations on this ski at all. With tip and tail rocker, and a skin fixation in the tail, you’re getting a floaty and playful ski as well, that’s totally quick and maneuverable thanks to the weight. In that 162, we’re seeing a 13.2-meter turn radius, which adds to that agility.
If you’re looking for a high-end touring ski that has a ton of versatility and capability, look no further than the Kastle TX93 W. They have the shape and profile to allow for well-rounded skiing, while at the same time, they weigh next to nothing for premium uphill efficiency.
