2024 BLACK CROWS ATRIS BIRDIE WOMEN'S SKIS
Making its triumphant return for 2024, the Black Crows Atris Birdie is a popular choice for women who want a hard charging, big-mountain, freeride ski. The Atris Birdie quickly made a name for itself as an extremely versatile all/big mountain ski, and rightfully so. Its simple construction but complex performance is hard to overlook and is certainly a contributing factor to its popularity. A truly freeride shape gives way to endless possibilities on snow and there is little that cannot be done on this legendary ski. It functions well as a daily driver for those that see fresh snow often, or as a powder ski for those that live on the east coast of the United States. For being a wider ski, the Atris Birdie is intuitive and approachable for a variety of skiers but is best suited for advanced to expert level skiers based on who would be able to extract the performance that lives within it.

The 2024 Black Crows Atris Birdie uses the same construction and materials as the previous year with the only changes made being the graphic. The core is made up of poplar which provide a great amount of energy and stability to the ski. Poplar is a popular choice among all/big mountain skis as the release of energy at the release of turns is exceptional but also very stable while at high speeds. Both attributes sough after in a big mountain freeride ski. The poplar wood core is then reinforced with two fiberglass laminates which provide torsional stiffness for edge grip as well as longitudinal stiffness for vibration dampening. Combined, at the 166.3cm length the Atris Birdie’s weight comes in at 3350 grams, which is relatively light for this genre of ski. Overall, the construction is simple but that lends for a predictable and burly flex pattern. A flex pattern that is stable at high speeds through variable snow, but energetic and supple enough for nimble, quick movements.

To go along with its simple yet effective construction, the Atris Birdie has a similar philosophy for its shape. With a classic, pronounced, freeride profile, the Atris Birdie has no lack of float or maneuverability. There is about 25% tip rocker, 55% camber, and 20% tail rocker with significant splay in both the tips in tails. You will experience no tip dive with these skis, that’s for sure. Although there is a lot of tip and tail rocker, the camber underfoot allows the Atris Birdie’s to effectively grip onto firm snow and hold an edge to create satisfying arching turns when on groomed terrain. As for the sidecut, at the 166.3cm length, the forebody has a 135mm width, 105mm waist width, and a tail width of 122mm which produces a turning radius of 19 meters. This shape tells of its freeride application and preferred terrain. Terrain that is steep, deep, and one where high speeds are most welcome.
For lady shredders that are looking for a all/big mountain charger that is unrelenting in the face of any terrain or condition, the 2024 Black Crows Atris Birdie is the epitome of simple yet highly effective. A simple construction using high performing materials and engineering, produces an exceedingly high performing ski for the rowdiest ladies out there. A predictable and dependable flex pattern allows you to become one with the ski and evokes confidence no matter what kind of line is below you. For the advanced to expert level lady skiers who need their next charger, look no further than the 2024 Black Crows Atris Birdie.
