2024 K2 Disruption Ti2 Skis w Marker XCOMP 16 Binding

2024 K2 DISRUPTION TI2 SKIS W MARKER XCOMP 16 BINDING

$1249.95

This one snuck up on us over the past two years, and we’re grateful for that. The 2024 K2 Disruption Ti2 is a very unique and special ski that stands out when it comes to supreme on-trail dominance. The best part about this ski is that it’s not born from a race model, so K2 can take more liberties and creativity in the build and shape aspects of the ski. As a result, this thing falls more on the all-trail carving side of the spectrum, basically using the trails as an open racecourse. It’s a tricky thing to visualize, but when you get on the ski it makes a lot more sense. Hopefully, if you’re lucky, you’ll get the chance to get on these skis in an open and vacant trail, allowing you to feel and harness the power and speed of these amazing skis. They definitely feel different from the other skis in the Disruption line, and when the build and shape are examined, it becomes quite clear why.

We do get the aspen veneer wood core in this ski, and that gives it a good amount of energy and pop. While we were initially wondering why it didn’t get the maple upgrade like the MTi, it became clear because of the rest of the material, and that mainly consists of metal. The dual metal I-Beam in this ski is very strong and sturdy, and we even get a third laminate in the underfoot zone that boosts the grip and power even further. Having the two I-Beam layers makes the ski about as smooth, powerful, and quiet as it gets, putting the skier firmly in the driver's seat when it comes to carving turns directly down the fall line. That said, it’s a bit of a handful for non-experts, so take that into account. To ensure that K2 hasn’t misrepresented this ski in any way, they put a Marker Piston Plate on it that’s to be mounted with an XCell race binding of your choice. This takes the ski to the next level when it comes to performance. We also get their Dark Matter Damping elastomer material in the tips and tails to minimize chatter even more. As a result, the skis are about as quiet as they come. Tipping the scale at 2093 grams per ski in the 182 without the plate, this ski ends up being quite hefty and somewhat unapproachable for those looking for an easier going model.

At 71 mm underfoot, it’s pretty darn narrow, requiring a fair amount of precision and a deft touch to access the entirety of the performance. The thing that sticks out the most about the shape is the long radius. At 22.3-meters in the 182, this thing is a rocket ship with an arc that’s approaching the FIS level of turn shape requirement. While it’s not quite there, it does put a huge onus of responsibility on the feet of the skier in that they need to be able to both let it run and tighten it up as the terrain allows. We’ve found that it is one of the best long-turning skis on the market today (other than FIS race room shapes) and that it also has the ability to make clean and round arcs if pushed appropriately. This Disruption Ti2 is one of the most interesting skis out there, and while demos are scarce, if you know what you’re looking for, this is a unique model for sure.

Skiers definitely have to know what this ski is all about before getting on it. Feel free to purchase blindly, but beware, it’s one of the straightest and strongest skis out there aside from the race world. Since K2 doesn’t have a race department, they’re basically able to create from the ground up, and this is a mad scientist style of ski that seems like it was created in a lab by a crazy skier. That said, we love it, and look forward to any and all time we get to spend on it.
