Featuring an unimageable blend of lightness and stability, the K2 Disruption 78 C Alliance is a women’s specific carving ski designed for skiers looking for a quick, dynamic and stable ski to use on groomed terrain. Despite being such a light ski relative to other skis in the same category, the 78 C Alliance boasts some impressive stability, thanks to its construction. A lightweight Aspen Veneer core gets enhanced by both a Carbon I-Beam and K2’s Dark Matter Damping technology. The Carbon I beam is a strip of carbon that runs through the length of the ski, adding some stiffness to the ski’s flex as well as some snap and rebound to give the ski a very lively feel in and out of the turn. Dark Matter Damping is an oscillating polymer sandwiched between two pieces of carbon that are placed in the outer portions of the tip and the tail of the ski. Despite sounding like something out of a sci-fi flick, this technology significantly reduces high-frequency vibrations which improve stability and edge hold overall. There is a bit of tip rocker incorporated into the tip shape of this ski, and while it is subtle, it does make turn initiation very smooth and effortless. While a 78-millimeter waist approaches the wider end of the spectrum of carvings skis, the focus of this ski really is making carving turns on groomed terrain. While it doesn’t have quite the power of its stronger siblings that feature a beefed-up version of the same construction, this ski is very approachable to a wide range of skiers. Best suited to intermediate and advanced skiers, experts that aren't skiing at Mach 5 all the time will also enjoy the energetic, easy-going nature of this ski as well.
