The Armada ARV 106 with Tyrolia Attack 14 GW Bindings is a new-generation, wider-bodied all-mountain ski designed for freestyle versatility, complete with a performance binding for a package that’s ready to go. This twin-tip excels across the entire mountain, especially in soft snow conditions. Its robust construction provides impressive stability at high speeds and through varied terrain. With its playful and smeary feel, yet stable and reliable performance, the ARV 106 blurs the lines between a powder ski, all-mountain twin-tip, and a park ski. We paired the 106 with the Tyrolia Attack 14 GW because of the Attack’s light weight, reliability, and ease-of-use for all mountain and freeride skiers. Additionally, ample elastic travel and direct power transmission function to ensure these bindings cater perfectly to the needs of demanding freeriders.
Why we like it:
We're impressed by the sheer strength of the ARV 106. It handles nearly every ski condition admirably, except for very firm, icy groomers, which is understandable. The ski's maneuverability and energy are remarkable given its strong build—kudos to Armada for that.
Who it's for:
The ARV 106 suits a wide range of skiers. It could serve as the daily driver for a freestyle skier on the West Coast or as a powder ski for an Eastern skier. It's versatile enough to be an all-mountain ski for West Coast park enthusiasts or a backcountry ski for aggressive Eastern skiers.
Highlights:
Featuring a new poplar wood core with an ash binding insert, the ARV 106 delivers an even flex pattern with binding reinforcement for handling big impacts and intense forces. W3dgewall Sidewalls add stiffness for high-speed charging and protect against impacts if you take them into the park for rails or boxes. The ski's redesign emphasizes strength and durability. The Attack 14 GW’s FR PRO3 Toe contains 30 mm of elastic travel which provides a smooth and confidence inspiring feel when tracking though variable snow while also recentering the boot to its neutral position extremely well to keep you locked in, acting almost like a suspension system. NX FR Heel pieces have 16 mm of elastic travel which assists in prevent false-releases. These heel pieces also make stepping into and out of bindings with ease, even in deep snow., and is an ideal choice for the ARV 106.
Things to consider:
The ARV 106 is not a lightweight ski, so it requires some effort to maneuver. However, this weight contributes to its stability and charging capability. It's an excellent choice as a daily driver for West Coast conditions or as a powder ski on the East Coast.
Fit & sizing considerations:
True to size; consider sizing down if you prefer more maneuverability to counterbalance the ski's weight.
