2025 Elan Playmaker 87 Skis

Designed for groms who are almost grown up, the Playmaker 87 offers all the fun of the Playmaker series in a lightweight package that blends the playfulness of a freestyle twin with the performance of a more directional frontside ski. The Playmaker 87 boasts plenty of rocker in the tip and tail for multi-directional performance in the park, and the laminated wood core provides the energy and stability needed when you’re carving up the trails.

Why we like it:

The Playmaker 87 is all new for 2025, and we love this reliable option for lighter skiers who are looking to hone their skills in the park, but also want a ski that performs all over the mountain.

Who it's for:

Youngsters looking to up their game in the park will get a lot out of the Playmaker 87; advancing intermediate adults on the lighter side can also take advantage of this ski’s intuitiveness and versatility.

Highlights:

More and more manufacturers are offering solidly built, versatile skis that can take advancing young skiers to the next level, and the all-new Playmaker 87 is yet another excellent offering in this category. Constructed with a lightweight wood core and fiberglass, the 87 pulls the best features from dedicated park skis and combines them with the performance of a more directional all-mountain ski, giving groms a chance to hit the park, trees, bumps, and groomers on a ski that won’t break the bank.

Things to consider:

Skiers who are dedicated to lap after lap in the park, day after day, may prefer the enhanced performance and added durability of a true park ski. On the other side of this coin are directional skiers who don’t typically venture into the park; they won’t benefit from the Playmaker 87’s park-friendly shape and design and are best suited to a more purpose-built frontside or all-mountain ski.
