2026 Volkl Katana V-werks Skiswith Tyrolia Attack 14 GW Bindings

The 2025 Volkl Katana V.Werks with Tyrolia Attack 14 GW Bindings is a unique ski that reimagines the Mantra 108 with a touring-focused approach. Designed for a niche audience, this ski excels in technical, deep, and challenging terrain while remaining impressively light and precise. We paired the V-Werks with the Tyrolia Attack 14 GW because of the Attack’s light weight, reliability, and ease-of-use for all mountain and freeride skiers. Additionally, ample elastic travel and direct power transmission function to ensure these bindings cater perfectly to the needs of demanding freeriders.

Why we like it:

The Katana V.Werks stands out thanks to its extreme construction techniques, blending lightweight design with exceptional strength. This results in a ski that's both incredibly light for its width and robust for its weight, making it a marvel of modern ski engineering.

Who it's for:

Advanced to expert skiers seeking a lightweight yet powerful and responsive ski for tackling deep and technical backcountry lines will find the Katana V.Werks to be an excellent choice.

Highlights:

The ski features Volkl’s Multilayer Wood Core Light, combining poplar and beech stringers for stability and energy underfoot. 3D Ridge Carbon laminates enhance strength and responsiveness while keeping the ski light. The fully rockered profile is tailored for powder, offering superb maneuverability and a smearable feel in deep snow. With a low stand height of just 17 millimeters, the 2027 Tyrolia Attack 14 offers an impressively close connection to the snow, delivering precise power transmission and a confident, locked-in feel. The FR Pro3 toe piece allows for a full 180 degrees of boot release, enhancing safety in a variety of fall scenarios, while the AFS (Anti-Friction Slider) ensures reliable re-centering and consistent release characteristics. Built to withstand hard use, the Attack 14 combines durability with performance, making it a go-to option for aggressive skiers who demand trust in their gear.

Things to consider:

The Katana V.Werks is highly specialized for backcountry powder and might not be the best choice for resort skiing. While it can serve as a good option for less aggressive resort powder skiers, it’s not ideal for high speeds or variable snow conditions, where other skis may perform better.

Fit & sizing considerations:

The Katana V.Werks skis true to size.
