DESCRIPTION

The 2026 Black Crows Sato with Salomon Strive 14 GW Bindings is a freshly designed frontside all-mountain ski that blends smooth carving precision with an easygoing freeride feel. At 88 mm underfoot, the Sato delivers the quickness and edge grip you want on groomers while still offering enough rocker and surface area to venture confidently into variable terrain. It’s reactive and refined without being punishing, making it a refreshing option for resort skiers who value performance and approachability in equal measure. We paired the Sato with the Strive 14 because of this binding’s well known reputation for safety, reliability, and ease of use. Featuring an LDN toe piece that optimizes contact and response, these bindings integrate seamlessly with boots and skis, allowing for a natural flex and balanced stance, making them the perfect choice to pair with this ski.

Why we like it:

The Sato hits a sweet spot—carvy and energetic without feeling overly stiff or demanding. It has just enough playfulness to keep things fun while remaining planted and predictable on firmer snow. It’s the type of ski that invites you to explore the whole resort, not just the frontside.

Who it's for:

Ideal for intermediate to advanced skiers who want a lively, frontside-oriented ski with enough versatility to handle the occasional off-piste detour. If you're looking for something approachable but still capable of holding speed and carving with confidence, the Sato makes a great daily driver.

Highlights:

Built with semi-cap construction around a poplar and fiberglass core, the Sato combines a quick feel underfoot with a calm, damp ride. Classic camber through the midsection delivers responsive edge hold, while rocker in the tip and tail allows for easy transitions and playful maneuvering. Its consistent 18-meter turn radius adds stability across all sizes, reinforcing the ski’s versatile character. The Strive 14 GW, with its lightweight build and low-profile chassis, delivers a smooth and responsive ride all day long. It remains nimble in deep snow and light on your feet as the day progresses. The LDN Toe Pieces offer a low stand height, optimizing power transfer and improving the connection to your skis. The Automatic Toe Adaption feature effortlessly adjusts to GripWalk boots without the need for manual adjustments. Additionally, the Snow Scrapers on the toe pieces effectively remove snow and ice, ensuring a secure fit that enhances both safety and performance for direct power transmission

Things to consider:

This ski thrives on groomers and firmer snow. If deep powder or high-speed freeride charging is your focus, a wider or more robust model—like the Black Crows Serpo—may better suit your needs.

Fit & sizing considerations:

The Sato skis true to size. Confident skiers can size up for added edge length and stability, but most riders will find their usual all-mountain length to be the best balance of performance and agility.

Size Impression
Definitely don't size down. Ski it in your usual size or maybe up one, depending on where the size breaks fall. I would probably ski it in the 175

Thoughts
Groomers and some skied out woods would be it's main home. It would be ok in new snow but once things get tracked out you'll probably want something a little stiffer.
Nothing really. I think it does what it set out to do. It's an accessible ski at a slightly lower price point than the rest of the line.
Overal Impression
This is meant to be a bit of a price point ski from Black Crows I think. It skis that way. Kinda loose, but in a fun way. Definitely not a powerful ski but really easy to get around the mountain on.
