DESCRIPTION

The 2026 Salomon Départ 1.0 with Tyrolia Attack 14 GW Bindings is anything but ordinary. Designed for skiers who see the mountain as an open canvas, this twin-tip ski fuses freestyle attitude with all-mountain range. From urban features to creative resort laps, it’s a tool for progression, expression, and raw fun. We paired the Depart 1.0 with the Tyrolia Attack 14 GW because of the Attack’s light weight, reliability, and ease-of-use for all mountain and freeride skiers. Additionally, ample elastic travel and direct power transmission function to ensure these bindings cater perfectly to the needs of demanding freeriders.

Why we like it:

It doesn’t just stand out—it invites you to stand out with it. The Départ 1.0 is light, playful, and full of energy, with construction that keeps it durable enough for rails and aggressive riding, yet agile enough to flow through side hits and park laps with ease.

Who it's for:

Built for creative skiers with freestyle roots, this ski is ideal for those who live for laps through the park, slashing transition zones, and stacking urban clips. If you're more interested in self-expression than perfect carve angles, the Départ 1.0 is your ski.

Highlights:

The Départ 1.0 starts with a Karuba-poplar core, delivering snap and agility with low swing weight. Full sandwich sidewalls offer edge hold and power when needed, while wide steel edges boost impact resistance—critical for rails, concrete, and ledges. Fiberglass laminates maintain a consistent flex profile, and a nearly symmetrical sidecut with a 106 mm waist and a 19-meter radius at 178 cm keeps things balanced, stable, and pivot-friendly. The Attack 14 GW’s FR PRO3 Toe contains 30 mm of elastic travel which provides a smooth and confidence inspiring feel when tracking though variable snow while also recentering the boot to its neutral position extremely well to keep you locked in, acting almost like a suspension system. NX FR Heel pieces have 16 mm of elastic travel which assists in prevent false-releases. These heel pieces also make stepping into and out of bindings with ease, even in deep snow.

Things to consider:

While it rips through side hits and excels in the park, the Départ 1.0 isn’t built for high-speed groomer laps or directional carving. It’s designed for creativity and freestyle—not race-day edge grip.

Fit & sizing considerations:

This ski runs true to size. Freestyle riders looking for quicker rotations or tighter tricks may prefer sizing down, while those looking for more stability or soft snow support should go up a length.
