2026 Salomon S/Lab QST Echo Skis
The 2026 Salomon S/LAB QST Echo with Tyrolia Attack 14 GW Bindings is a high-performance backcountry freeride ski engineered for serious vertical gain and confident descents. It’s the lightest ski in the QST family, but make no mistake—this ski brings a surprising amount of dampness and stability when you drop in, offering an ideal balance of uphill efficiency and downhill precision. We paired the S/Lab QST Echo with the Tyrolia Attack 14 GW because of the Attack’s light weight, reliability, and ease-of-use for all mountain and freeride skiers. Additionally, ample elastic travel and direct power transmission function to ensure these bindings cater perfectly to the needs of demanding freeriders.
Why we like it:
The Echo offers the elusive combination of featherweight feel and freeride grit. It’s light enough for big missions, steep ascents, and long days on skins, but when the time comes to charge, it stays composed and confident—even in tough snow.
Who it's for:
Designed for advanced and expert skiers with a backcountry focus, the Echo is best suited to those tackling technical terrain and long approaches. It's a go-to for ski mountaineers, freeride tourers, and big-mountain lines where weight matters but confidence on the descent can’t be compromised.
Highlights:
The Echo’s construction revolves around [BST] Basalt Superlight Fiber—Salomon’s answer to carbon that delivers powerful damping and strength with a much smoother feel. A full Karuba/Poplar wood core balances lightweight energy with a strong, consistent flex. Double Sidewalls provide grip when traversing firm snow or dropping into couloirs, while a generous rocker profile (25% tip, 17% tail) enhances maneuverability and float in deep or variable conditions. At just 1700 g per ski (179 cm), it’s impressively light yet remarkably composed. The Attack 14 GW’s FR PRO3 Toe contains 30 mm of elastic travel which provides a smooth and confidence inspiring feel when tracking though variable snow while also recentering the boot to its neutral position extremely well to keep you locked in, acting almost like a suspension system. NX FR Heel pieces have 16 mm of elastic travel which assists in prevent false-releases. These heel pieces also make stepping into and out of bindings with ease, even in deep snow.
Things to consider:
As a touring-focused ski, the Echo lacks the brute force of heavier resort-oriented skis. While it's plenty powerful for its weight, those looking for a daily resort ripper or charger may want to consider the QST 106 instead.
Fit & sizing considerations:
This ski runs true to size. Size down slightly for tight or technical descents, or stick with your freeride length if stability at speed is your priority.
