The 2026 Volkl Mantra 102 with Demo bindings skis with the precision and stability of a race ski in spite of its width. A strong construction and a relatively short turning radius put it firmly in Volkl's all-mountain category, and between the titanal and the carbon it's one of the toughest skis you'll find at this width. Demo bindings are the adaptable part of this package, built to take a wide range of boot sizes.
Why we like it:
For a ski this wide, the smoothness, composure, and carving ability on offer are genuinely impressive. Carving a turn on it feels remarkably like carving a race ski, which makes it a standout in its class.
Who it's for:
The Mantra 102 is built for advanced to expert skiers who are physically strong and drive their skis hard every run. It's ideal for all-mountain skiers who focus on carving and want a wider platform underneath them for added stability.
Highlights:
Volkl's 3D Radius sidecut gives the Mantra 102 three distinct turn radii depending on which section of the ski you've engaged, with specific sidecuts in the tip, underfoot, and tail zones. The Tailored Titanal Frame puts a full sheet of titanal under the core and a segmented frame above it, dialing in a precise mix of torsional and longitudinal flex, which is what delivers remarkable edge grip while leaving some forgiveness for more intuitive handling. Tailored Carbon Tips use hand-laid carbon stringers to tune the torsional stiffness of the tips for better turn initiation and smoothness, and the Multilayer Wood Core works poplar and beech stringers into a 102 mm waist to put energy and stiffness where they're needed most. Finishing the package, the demo binding adjusts to fit most boot sizes.
Things to consider:
This is a powerful ski, and it can be a handful if you ski it with a relaxed approach. The lack of taper and of tip and tail rocker makes it less effective in deep snow, where it isn't as smeary or playful as others in the category. It's really for skiers who put high-end carving performance first and want it on a wider platform.
Fit & sizing considerations:
These skis run true to size, though if you want more snap or more maneuverability, consider sizing down in length.
