DESCRIPTION

The Volkl Peregrine 80 returns unchanged for 2026, offering an accessible, intuitive ski that checks all the boxes for a wide range of frontside carving enthusiasts. Building of the legacy of the old Deacon line, the Peregrine 80 is engaging and approachable, delivering impressive carving performance without requiring aggressive input. It shares DNA with the Peregrine 82 but incorporates less metal, making it lighter and more forgiving while still being capable of ripping clean turns when pushed.

Why we like it:

This is a ski that rewards confident input, but doesn’t punish hesitation, making it a blast to carve and easy to control for a wide range of skiers.

Who it's for:

This ski is designed for intermediate to advanced skiers who prioritize carving and frontside versatility but don’t want something overly demanding. It’s perfect for those who want precision and responsiveness without having to drive every turn aggressively.

Highlights:

Stringers of carbon in the tip of the ski, called Tailored Carbon Tips, work to enhance torsional stiffness right where it counts, boosting precision and predictability when initiating turns. A central titanal band adds just enough vibration damping and stability without adding unnecessary weight or stiffness. The ski’s 3D Radius sidecut allows for different turn shapes depending on where pressure is applied along the edge, giving the skier dynamic control in varied conditions. Volkl’s multilayer woodcore, composed of mixed Poplar and Beech woods, creates tuned flex zones throughout the ski, further enhancing responsiveness and intuitive feel.

Things to consider:

Skiers who are aggressive or seeking top-end carving power may prefer a model with a more robust metal laminate, such as the Peregrine 82 or one of the Masters editions. The Peregrine 80 is very frontside focused, and doesn’t have the width, shape, or versatility to effectively handle soft snow or powder.

Fit & sizing considerations:

The Peregrine 80 skis true to size. It’s not uncommon to size frontside skis slightly shorter than a traditional all-mountain ski for increased maneuverability and quicker edge engagement.
