DESCRIPTION

The very youngest skiers are the focus of the Salomon QST Jr Cosmic Sky. A lightweight composite build and a soft, easy-flexing shape mean a small child can actually turn this ski rather than fight it, and a mostly-cambered profile with a touch of tip rocker keeps things stable and predictable. The Juniortrak binding adjusts to growing feet. Early turns come easily, and easy turns are what make a kid want a second run. We selected to pair the QST with the Rossignol Comp J Girl’s ski boots because of its comfort and reliable performance that it provides for beginner to lower intermediate skiers. Its soft flex, easy-to-use buckle system, and cozy liner, make these boots the ultimate match for these skis and skiers who need a reliable and user-friend boot that will help to improve their skill anywhere on the mountain.

Who it's for:

The smallest skiers, roughly the first-timers and second-season crowd still working out how to make a turn happen at all. The soft flex and short lengths suit light children who can't yet muscle a ski into shape.

Things to consider:

This is built for learning rather than for speed, so a child who starts skiing fast or heading into terrain will flatten it out quickly and want something stiffer. The composite construction is also less lively than a wood core, which matters little at this level but becomes obvious as the skier improves.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Junior skis are sized to the child, generally landing somewhere between chin and nose height, and shorter is the safer error while turns are still being learned. Check the binding's adjustment range against the boot too, since a growing foot usually outpaces the ski.
