The 2023 Head Kore X 90 is a fantastic option for intermediate skiers who are looking for a mid-width all-mountain ski that can handle a multitude of terrain and snow conditions. Thanks to the construction, shape, and profile, the Kore X 90 is a sturdy and friendly ski that loves to make turns and explore. It has more of a fun-loving personality than a business-like one, and that is a good thing for a wide variety of skiers who fit that bill as well. Built with a wood core, fiberglass laminates, and a graphene strip for stiffness, these skis are energetic and light for quickness, agility, and maneuverability.

If you’re the type of skier that doesn’t really want to think about the skis you’re on, rather you just want to go out and have a good time, this ski is a fantastic choice. At 90 mm underfoot it’s right square in the middle of the all-mountain category, borrowing a lot of the positive attributes that the higher-end Kore 87/93 skis have, with a bit more of a medium shape to them. You can use them exclusively on groomers and have a blast, or if skiing the bumps and trees is more your style, then the Kore X 90 will accommodate that as well. Right in the middle of all things fun, the Kore X 90 can handle it all. With a 14.7-meter turn radius in the 170, it’s a pretty short turner, allowing skiers the ability to access the sidecut and really get into the edge angles. Since it’s not as stiff as the other Kore skis, you don’t have to be too aggressive to get it up on that edge, and that’s a good thing for a lot of skiers.

Connor Gorham skied the 170, and while it was too short for him, he did note its trueness to size. Connor’s top scores were 4’s out of 5 for torsional stiffness and edge hold, with 3’s running the rest of the way. If you would have bet me that this ski would be mostly 3’s, I’d have taken that bet for sure. As colorful and creative as ever, Connor queries: “Ever go on a basic date? Rode these Kore’s on a crisp morning ready for something fast and fun. These Head sticks didn’t move the needle for me. No red flags. But no love at first sight. Very polite and matched my poles really nicely. If we are being honest, a little short for me!” It’s always fun to hear the creativity of ski description here, and we do appreciate Connor’s honesty in this regard.

Some skiers really enjoy that middle-ground ski style. Having something that you don’t have to think too hard about can be seen as a huge plus, especially in today’s oversaturated market of skis. We often joke that ski companies should really just widdle down their selection to one or two skis and just make skiers use them. That’ll make something like this Kore X 90 stand right out.
