Sure, it’s a twin tip, but it’s also so much more. The 2023 Head Oblivion 94 returns unchanged, and that’s fantastic news for skiers who love the mid-90's underfoot twin tips as much as we do here at SkiEssentials.com. From pure park and pipe to total all-mountain skiing, the Oblivion 94 is an awesome choice for skiers who see the whole hill as their playground. Built with a wood core and fiberglass laminates, the Oblivion 94 has a relatively simple build, but there’s a whole lot of potential. In the 184 cm length, these skis generate a 22.8-meter turn radius, which is on the long side, and that’s kind of what you’re looking for in the park, freeing the ski up from being hooky or grabby. It’s a smooth feeling, as a result, and that equates to good style. From an all-mountain perspective, we talk a lot about the mid-90's as a great place to be for one-ski quivers, and for skiers looking for that type of product in a twin tip shape, this is right at the top of the list.

On the 184, Hans von Briesen found it to be true to length, and he scored it top marks of 4 out of 5 for overall impression, versatility, torsional stiffness, edge grip, quickness, maneuverability, and flotation. 3’s followed suit for forgiveness, playfulness, and stability. Hans states that the Oblivion 94 had “Great stability and was playful through all terrain. Capable and craving alert skiing that allows it to open up. Feels a little vague and squirrely on a flat ski.” While substantial, it’s still going to have some flex in the tips and tails, so it’s not surprising to hear that it can get bounced around a bit.

Matt McGinnis skied the 184, and noted that it felt short to him, “even though 184 is normally on the long side for me.” Perhaps that more flexible nature to the ski made it feel that way, but as the longest in the lineup, he’s really got no other choice. All 4’s out of 5 on the scorecard for Matt, with a lone 3 for playfulness, showing that he did find these skis to be on the stiffer side of the spectrum. Normally, we’d see a twin-tipped park ski dominate the playfulness category, but this just shows that the Oblivion 94 is quite a bit more than just a trick ski. “Honestly, this ski is a straight 4. It handled everything I threw at it, from quickly skidding to switch, to laying down long arcing turns, and popping off side hits and mogul bumps. The one demerit I’ll give it is that it never seemed to absolutely excel at anything. So, rather than earning 5’s, it earned 4’s in nearly all categories. Keeping that in mind, I’d recommend this ski to any intermediate or advanced intermediate skiers who want a tool they can take anywhere. These twin tips would be at home in the park, on any trail, or even in the backcountry on days with ~10” or less of fresh snow. As for anti-recommendations, I wouldn’t recommend this to any high-level park skiers as the flex might not be suitable for big jumps, or any skier looking for a powerful free ride ski. As per usual, this ski would be adequate, but there are simply better options out there.” True, and we agree with Matt that there are better choices for just a park ski, but for a ski that does everything pretty darn well, it’s hard to make an argument against the Oblivion 94.

Skiing should be fun, and most of the time it is. You can certainly get derailed from that fact if you’re on the wrong gear. The Head Oblivion 94 totally takes that aspect out of the equation, allowing skiers to have an absolute blast on snow no matter where they take them. Ideally suited for advanced skiers looking to spend some time in the park, the Oblivion 94 shall not be limited to just that demographic.
