As the widest ski in the Disruption line, the 82Ti has the most off-trail capabilities, while still keeping it pretty tight on the groomers as well. This thing is a beast when it comes to high-speed cruising, but it also has some versatility built in due to the shape. Built with an Aspen Veneer wood core, the skis benefit from K2’s Titanal I-Beam and Dark Matter Damping. Powerwall construction also helps out here, placing a premium on underfoot material to create strong grip and excellent torsional stiffness. In the 177, these skis produce an 18.4-meter turn radius, so it gets kind of long in the upper lengths, allowing for greater speed and more direct lines down the hill. There’s a bit of rocker in the tip and tail, and while K2 won’t tell you that’s the case, it’s there, if every so slightly. Still, that I-Beam of metal keeps this thing on the straight and narrow, and that’s fantastic news for front side enthusiasts who want to lay their skis over and generate some serious g-forces. There’s basically no taper in this ski, so the effective edge and the smoothness of the ski are on the highest of levels. If you’re looking for a front side ski with a solid grip and a bit of width, this ski will be appropriate for a wide range of skier types, terrain, and snow conditions, with a focus on the front side.

Quenten Jones skied the 177, and noted that it is true to size. He scored top marks of 5 out of 5 for overall impression, torsional stiffness, and edge hold, with 4’s for stability, quickness, maneuverability, and versatility. He gave it appropriate 3’s for playfulness and forgiveness, and an even smarter 2 out of 5 for flotation. Quenten calls it “Planted, damp, stable, supple, powerful. So smooth. Can really feel and use the entire edge. Very stable at speed but fun to do shorter snappy turns as well. Beer league ski? Daily driver for high intermediate to expert skier who loves on-piste ripping. Can still handle some soft chop and spring corn.” There’s that versatility that we talked about—just a bit of width and rocker can go a long way with a ski like this, and we’re stoked to hear that Quenten picked up on that as well.

Benny Wax notes that his 177 skied really well and felt true to size. He’s right in the 4-range for all categories, showing the well-rounded nature of the ski at a higher level. Very consistent stuff coming from Benny here, noting that “This was a solid cruiser! Hugged the slopes on the firm and in the deep sugar snow! I just love making long solid sweeping turns through it all!” The combination of solid feel and the confidence created by standing on the edges makes a lot of sense, and we’re keen to see that Benny noticed it too. Joshua Matta calls his 177 a “Powerful damp stable carver. Strongest ski in the frontside category for me. Make it easy to Rip turn down nosedive but makes it not as fun as an all-mountain ski as the Head e.rally. This is a great ski that the fastest on-piste skiers will adore.” He gave the ski 5’s for torsional stiffness, edge hold, and stability, with some 2’s bookending the 4’s for versatility, playfulness, and flotation. We kind of expect to see greater variances in scores for a ski like this versus what Benny comes up with by having all 4’s. Mostly, a ski that has a lot of stiffness will not really float or be playful.

Whether you’re using this as a front side-specific ski for pure carving and groomer cruising, or as a slightly narrower all-mountain ski, you’re sure to get a lot of power and precision from the Disruption 82Ti. These skis absolutely rip the groomers, while remaining a bit surprising in off-trail adventures.
