The Rossignol Black Ops 92 is a new ski for 2023, and really scratches the itch of youth, tweener, and adult skiers looking for a light, fun-loving twin tip that’s supremely versatile and ready to roll. The Black Ops line has undergone mostly marketing changes over the past few years, making it kind of difficult to keep track of, but for 2023, it gets a little less mucky. Black Ops skis consist of the Pro, 92, 98, and 118. The 92 is made from paulownia wood in the core and features a full sidewall construction. This build is very effective in getting the ski on edge and holding tight on firmer snow. In the shorter lengths (136, 146, and 156), the skis are 90 mm underfoot, and in the 166 and 176, they’re a bit wider at 91. The 166 produces a 16-meter turn radius, so it’s on the shiftier side of the spectrum when it comes to swishing around turns. This range of sizes really opens the ski up to a lot of people. In addition, the flex pattern, construction, and shape make it totally accessible as a fantastic all-mountain ski.

Twin tips are a whole lot of fun. Whether you’re a dedicated park rat who spends all of their time in the air or on rails or a true all-mountain skier who loves the bumps and trees, the Rossignol Black Ops 92 is a fantastic choice. It’s easy to maneuver in both the front and the back, allowing skiers the creativity and freedom to dictate and decide their turn shapes and styles no matter the terrain or snow conditions. These things totally rip in the moguls and the woods, as that turned-up tail makes it super-easy to playfully finish a turn without getting hooky in the softer snow. While it’s not a ski that’s specific to one particular category, it sure blends them all quite nicely. Freestyle, freeride, or all-mountain, the 2023 Rossignol Black Ops 92 has something for everyone.

Chris McClelland skied the 166, and while he’s certainly on the tall side and would have preferred the 176, it’s still relevant and important to get this type of feedback. Chris gave top marks of 4’s out of 5 for quickness, maneuverability, playfulness, torsional stiffness, and edge hold. 3’s dotted the rest of his card for all remaining categories. This consistency in scoring, even though the skis were too short for him, is impressive nonetheless, and offers a lot of hope for skiers who may not have thought the Black Ops 92 wasn’t going to be enough ski for them. Chris states that “The 166’s were way too short for me but they still were fun to take through the bumps and trees. Even at 166 I was impressed with the edge hold and response. They definitely have a top speed and were chattering a lot in some places, but that’s more to do with the length I was on I believe. This would be a great ski for someone lighter weight and wanting an all-mountain ski they can take into the woods and bumps.”

We have a lot of love for skis like this at SkiEssentials.com. The vast majority of skiers who spend all/most of their time in the resort like to do a little bit of everything, and most of them don’t want to work too hard for it. A ski like the Black Ops 92 comes in handy here, with a wide variety of sizes and an easy-going and fun-loving personality, a whole lot of skiers can have a ton of fun out there on the hill on the 2023 Rossignol Black Ops 92.
