The 2023 Rossignol Rallybird 102 is an amazing new ski for ladies who are looking for something light, snappy, and energetic that also happens to fall on the wider side of all-mountain shapes. Built with a paulownia wood core, the skis get a great start, and then Rossignol really starts to add some cool technology for energy, dampness, and maneuverability. Their Double LCT visco stringers keep the ski smooth and quiet while the Diagofiber stiffens the ski both longitudinally and torsionally without adding much weight. Damp Tech in the tips reduces unwanted vibrations, making the Rallybird 102 a high-tech ski that feels natural and intuitive in any and all conditions and terrain. For skiers who ski in snowier zones, this Rallybird 102 could make a great daily driver. If you are on the other end of that spectrum, the 102 would make a great complement to a narrower, more front-side ski. In the 162 cm length, the Rallybird 102 generates a fairly paltry 13-meter turn radius and weighs 1700 grams per ski. These things love to turn, making them some of the more maneuverable skis in their class. Ladies who are looking for the wider option in the all-mountain category, and don’t want something too heavy or cumbersome will fall right in line with the poppy Rallybird 102.

Alli Ruschp skied the 162 and notes that it’s true to length. She had all 4’s and 5’s on her card, with the 5’s going for flotation, stability, torsional stiffness, and edge grip. 4’s for overall impression, versatility, forgiveness, playfulness, quickness, and maneuverability rounds out a pretty impressive scorecard for Alli. She calls the Rallybird 102 “Strong, smooth wide ski option! Not the most forgiving 102 option, but one of the smoothest. For an advanced lady looking for a stable wide ski this is a great option. I hate to put it in the corner of West Coast skiers but there are ladies in the East that will love this ski but it's an excellent option for a west coast skier. Its long turn radius will be a dream on the wide-open terrain. When it snows the 102-mm waist will allow for floatation with stability. If you are mainly skiing out west, you could consider going up to the longer length to get the large turn radius and extra floatation but I found for east coast, the shorter length was better for me as I could easily maneuver in the trees and make tighter turns on the busy slopes. Also, a very beautiful top sheet adds to the appeal with a pop of pink in the tails.” These great comments, combined with Alli’s high scores, make it apparent that she’s a fan of the Rallybird 102.

Ann MacDonald skied the 170 and noted that it was a good length for her. Aside from a low score of 3 out of 5 for playfulness, Ann was all 4’s across the board. Like Alli, it’s interesting to see the high baseline of scores for this wider ski. Ann calls it a “Good ski all around. Not super poppy but still easy to maneuver. Very solid underfoot and stable but forgiving. Good ski for most girls looking for a wider ski for powder and crud to add to their quiver.” Also on the 170, Carly Monahan notes that the Rallybird 102 “skis a bit short. These are longer than I would typically ski and they felt very comfortable.” Carly had a low point of 3 out of 5 for versatility, a high score of 5 out of 5 for flotation, with the rest of her scores as 4’s. These consistently high scores echo the other testers’ marks, showing the high-end and well-rounded nature of the Rallybird 102. Carly says that “She’s a Swiss Army knife! Will lock into a big sweeping turn, bop through soft bumps, and plow through crud. Light underfoot for ski of this width, would recommend for an advanced skier looking for playful ski that’s not too demanding, but that will rally hard through any conditions. Definitely a little beefier than it’s little sister, but still super responsive and nimble.”

These Rallybird skis are fantastic choices for ladies who are looking for a blend of the all-mountain and freeride categories. With a progressive shape and build, there’s a lot of technology here to create a unique character and personality of the ski. The turny nature of the Rallybird 102 marries well with its lighter weight and stable feel. You can do a whole lot on these skis, and they make a lot of sense for ladies looking to rip up the whole resort.
