As the narrowest, softest member of the Mindbender family, the 85 W is the perfect option for beginners and intermediates who want to gain confidence off-piste on a competent carver. With greater strengths on-piste and in a groomer format, 85 mm underfoot is a great balance point for improving technique but with enough surface area to explore softer snow conditions. An all-mountain shape and friendly personality work together to invite a wide array of skiers to enjoy its approachable, smooth performance. With a touch of freeride flair and a predictable flex pattern, its ease of use makes a lot of sense for trail cruising.

A simple yet effective use of materials lends itself to the approachability of this ski while remaining reliable and sturdy. Built with an Aspen Veneer wood core, we get a nice mix of energy and stability. While the rest of the Mindbenders feature either carbon or metal, the 85 W sticks with wood and leaves the rest of the work up to the shape and profile. We do get slantwall sidewall construction, which combines the benefits of cap and sidewall construction, giving this ski excellent edge grip and carving capabilities. Light and responsive, they transfer energy from edge-to-edge effortlessly, making slow to moderate speed turns an absolute joy. Nothing too demanding here by any means, the whole point of this ski is to provide fun, predictability, and ease of use. While advanced to expert skiers may look to another Mindbender, skiers in the earlier stages of skiing will love this ski’s friendly nature.
The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2025 K2 Mindbender 85 WThe mid-80s range is a great place to be for a versatile but comfortable waist width. Providing a forgiving platform, gaining confidence and control in an arced turn has never felt easier. With plenty of surface area to venture off-piste, this ski is a great all-mountain option. Generating a 13.1-meter turn radius in the 170 cm length, this is a short to medium radius that allows for quick feedback and the option of opening it up at comfortable speed. The All-Terrain Rocker profile invites soft snow performance, with a gradual rise to the tip and short, low rise in the tail. This provides added control for variable snow conditions in the back of the ski with smooth turning abilities and decent flotation in the front. Versatile by every means, the shape and profile of this ski match nicely with the simple build.
Since most of us spend our time cruising groomers, the Mindbender 85 W makes a whole lot of sense. Skilled skiers will seek more, but for up-and-coming all-mountain skiers looking for a versatile tool with easy turning capabilities and lightweight mobility, this ski is for you.
