Returning for 2025, the Nordica Unleashed 114 is a burly twin tip that loves to charge. By following the same overall character and design from the 98 and 108, the 114 opens up a new realm of deep snow performance for expert skiers who are looking to make the most out of their time in big mountain terrain. We’re still seeing these skis pop up on the Freeride World Tour, so there’s some pro-level athletes finding the benefits of this ski in a competitive format. Unleashed has been at the top of our list for a few years now, and it continues into 2025, especially with this wider shape. While in the past, skis with more rocker were typically viewed as better for deeper snow and technical terrain, there’s been a shift to longer running lengths and more effective edge, especially when it comes to high-end skiing. Basically, they’re taking a wider, more race-like style of ski and putting it into a big mountain format. There’s no arguing about results, as this type of ski definitely works. You do, however, have to be ready to put in the work as these skis must be driven precisely and firmly by strong skiers.

These Unleashed 114’s have a sturdy build and a strong character. Like the other skis in the Unleashed line, the 114 starts with a performance wood core consisting of poplar and beech. This dense and strong wood core contains both energy and stability, putting this ski on the top end of high end. On top and bottom of the core, we’re getting two layers of carbon-infused fiberglass. These longitudinal stringers increase the stiffness overall, and when they’re weaved into the glass, it makes for a cohesive and energetic laminate. Since there’s two of them, it makes it doubly responsive and stiff. Additionally, we’re getting Nordica’s Terrain-Specific Titanal laminate that adds a great deal of damping and power to the mix. In this ski, the metal is full width in the shovel and through the tail, while the central portion is thinner and functions as a spine for the ski. As a result, the ski is more flexible in the middle than the ends, and this contributes to the ski’s ability to make very round and clean turns. Noah Novotny notes that “The 114 is a powder freeride ski designed for deep snow and steep freeride terrain. The width combined the full sidewall construction mean it wants to go fast, catch air and slash deep snow.” It does feel rugged and strong, especially in the 186 and longer.
The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2025 Nordica Unleashed 114This is a unique footprint for a ski, and we’re all about it. Shaping is like the narrower skis in the line, emphasizing a longer running length and relative effective edge. For skiers looking for grip, energy, and power, this is the way to go in a wider ski. While most other skis at this width rely on a more rockered and tapered footprint for freeride playfulness, this 114 is more business-like in this regard. Certainly, nobody’s mistaking this ski for a front side ski built for carving, it does happen to have more properties that are borrowed from narrower and all-mountain options. This increases edge grip and downward pressure, so while the smeary nature of the ski is less than the competitors, the precision and power are off the charts. As a result of the shape and profile, the Unleashed 114 is a crisp turner with great grip, especially in more technical terrain. Novotny continues to call it “A true freeride ski with the width to ski powder. It felt super stable at speed.”
There’s not much variety here for skier type and audience as this is a specific choice. Skiers looking for top-end performance and agility in a freeride and big-mountain format will love the shape and width of the Unleashed 114. This ski is not for those looking to relax or take it easy out there, it’s better suited for more aggressive skiers who are looking to make their mark on huge mountain faces and the steepest terrain around. We’re stoked to see it back for another season of high-performance freeride fun.
