Intermediates looking for a confident carving ski will love the new Rossignol Nova 6. Designed to build confidence and technique on-piste, it features race-inspired technology and an innovative shape to deliver smoothness and predictability. Perfect for skiers who are looking to step up their carving game and fine-tune the perfect arc, the Nova 6 combines a lightweight but sturdy build with a friendly shape to encourage intuitive performance. For the most part, skiers spend the majority of their time cruising groomers so why not have an accessible, easy-going ski to rip up the trails on?

While the construction takes notes from race-oriented skis, it remains lightweight and approachable. Starting with a poplar PEFC wood core, dampness and stability are matched right from the start. Adding to it, Rossignol incorporates a carbon beam to enhance the torsional stiffness and level of energy without tipping the scale. To add durability and strength, rectangular sidewalls provide excellent edge grip and precision for easy to access carving. As a way of fine-tuning the flex, V-profile technology is incorporated to optimize each layer of material, ultimately boosting maneuverability and control. The overall focus for the build of this ski was to achieve stability and smoothness to allow for effortless carving without too much work. Keeping it light but planted, skiers who want predictability in their performance can rely on this ski. As Tester Megan Papineau puts it “I do think for the right person (a senior skier who used to ski hard and now makes pretty turns all day long) this is the ski for them.” Agreeing with Megan, this ski definitely likes to make pretty turns all day and for someone who doesn’t want to have to work hard for them, the Nova 6 is ideal.

The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2025 Rossignol Nova 6

When we consider the shape, it could fall under frontside or narrow all-mountain, depending on who you ask. Based on its intended use, it certainly leans closer to on-piste but given the oversized sidecut and tip shape, versatility comes into the conversation. At 75 mm underfoot, this width is ideal for carving performance and on-trail applications. For more dedicated frontside skiers and ex-racers, this width may be too wide but for intermediates looking for a solid balance point, this is ideal. Bookended by a 128 mm tip width and 111 mm tail width, the wider shovel provides effortless turn initiation and with the slight tip rocker, some flotation is accessible. Generating an 11-meter turn radius in the 156 cm length, the Nova 6 clearly likes to turn and with quickness at that.

A very confusing review here but I do think for the right person (a senior skier who used to ski hard and now makes pretty turns all day long) this is the ski for them.
Megan Papineau

The Nova 6 is an excellent option for a wide range of skiers who are looking for effortless performance and approachability. Given the race-inspired technology and build, it certainly doesn’t lack strength or power, but it is designed to be lightweight and easy going. For on-trail cruising and technique enhancement, the Nova 6 makes a lot of sense for a lot of skiers.

Thoughts
Groomers.
Seems like a good intermediate ski. I’m looking forward to trying different skis in the series.
Overal Impression
Turns nicely at slower speeds. Unstable when going faster.
