Volkl’s Blaze collection has gained a strong following over the past few years. The Blaze 94 we’re talking about here has emerged as the most popular and arguably the most versatile ski in the collection. These skis are an excellent complement to Volkl’s heavier skis like the M7 Mantra with more of a focus on quickness, maneuverability, soft snow, and technical terrain. They might not have the carving chops of skis like the Mantra, but their versatility and capabilities in variable snow conditions are very impressive. They’re also notably lightweight, and Volkl includes a skin attachment point on the tail of the Blaze skis as a nod to their touring potential. Whether you choose to make it a resort all-mountain ski or you’re planning on taking it deep into the backcountry, there’s a lot to like in this lightweight ski.

For the 2025 season, Volkl increased the stability of the Blaze 94 without sacrificing its lightweight appeal. That construction carries forward to 2026 where we see a Hybrid Multilayer Wood Core, 3D Glass, Suspension Tips & Tails, and a larger titanal plate underfoot compared to previous versions. In the 165 cm length, the Blaze 94 still comes in at an impressively low 1455 g. We were all quite pleased with the improvements for 2025 and happy to see the same performance return for 2026. Previously, the Blaze 94 could get deflected a little too easily for some skier’s preference, and they’ve improved that substantially in the new version. Hans skied it in the 179 cm length and his initial feedback echoed that sentiment to a T. “I liked the the weight under foot and that it still seemed to have a low swing weight so you could move it around quick. It handles the frozen bump section very well. On real, it held an edge really well and felt very stable.” In the original version of the Blaze 94, the word stable didn’t often come up, and it’s nice to see that improvement.

The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2026 Volkl Blaze 94

For a mid-90 all-mountain ski, the shape is largely derived from wider freeride skis. The Blaze 94 has long rocker lines, although not a tremendous amount of splay. You can maneuver it easily if you keep it to a flatter edge angle, but tipping it on edge engages more of the ski, effectively increasing grip and stability the more you tip the ski on edge. We also see Volkl’s 4 Radius Drive shaping. There’s a big different between radii in different sections of the ski, notably just behind the tip and before the toe piece of your binding. In this area, the 179 cm length sees a massive 39.9 m radius, but then under your foot it’s 16.8 m. This allows you to let the ski drift and be a little looser in soft snow conditions without it feeling catchy, but if you gas pedal it and engage the middle portion of the ski, it starts to make rounder, more carved turns. It’s a fantastic design that allows for a seemingly endless amount of different turn shapes. For Lauren Morton, that came through in both her numerical scores (a 10 for versatility) and her written feedback. “So far favorite ski of the day. Super versatile. Stable at speed. Easy turns. Cuts through crud.”

Such a good ski for the whole mountain and for all day skiing as its lightweight and very maneuverable.

Volkl learned a lot with their initial versions of the Blaze 94 and these latest skis are proof that they took that knowledge and tweaked the ski to increase performance across the board. While the Blaze 94 is still far from the most stable, powerful skis on the market, it excels in off-piste terrain and any situation where you need to make quick turns. It’s also objectively better in every criteria we can think of compared to its predecessor, which is an impressive accomplishment on its own.

Thoughts
Such a good ski for the whole mountain and for all day skiing as its lightweight and very maneuverable. Excellent in bumps and trees as well the groomers.
Nothing.
Overal Impression
Another great option for women skiers from Volkl. Easy to turn, lighter underfoot than the Mantra womens line, which makes it more forgiving and versatile on the hill. Really enjoyed this ski in the bumps and softer snow.
