2027 Blizzard Canvas 118

The 2027 Blizzard Canvas 118 is the widest ski in this new collection and clearly the most soft/deep snow oriented. This is a freeride powder ski through and through. It makes perfect sense for skiers who spend most of their time either searching for or finding bottomless snow. The Canvas shape and style is all new for 2027, bringing more of a freestyle and creative influence to the brand and model line. Canvas 118 separates itself from Rustler with a lighter weight, surfier mentality, and more creative character.

We’ve loved how they incorporate a bit of metal into a lighter poplar and paulownia wood core. The skis use the metal as more of a damping layer, as it’s thin and not full width. This keeps the playfulness of the ski fully intact while the flex is boosted by just a bit of titanal. At 118 mm underfoot there is plenty of float here, and it does feel lighter than a lot of other skis in this range mainly due to increased agility and mobility. We get a stated weight of 1920 g/ski in the 180 so if you’re looking for a shifty and smeary feel, this is the place to be.

One of the things we like most about the Canvas 118 is the mix of shape and profile. While it’s simplistic to call these skis “twin tips,” there’s also a bit more going on. With a good amount of rocker and splay, we’re seeing a smooth and bouncy feel to the skis while the flatter overall profile allows for easy mobility in all sorts of snow conditions and terrain. The 180 features a sidecut split of 145/118/134, so there’s more of a directional footprint here rather than a more symmetrical freestyle look. That same 180 produces a 19-meter turn radius which can be easily manipulated due to the more forgiving flex.

The 2027 Blizzard Canvas 118 will provide a nice option for those looking for playful and creative skiing in deep snow. There’s not a ton of versatility here, so we can’t imagine it’ll be the only ski in one’s collection. Due to the specificity of the ski, it does fall more into the expert category, although we think that many progressing skiers will love the ease of use, forgiveness, and overall fun level of this new wide-bodied twin.
