2027 Blizzard Firebird WRC

If you’re looking for an uncompromising build and a super-fast shape, check out the 2027 Blizzard Firebird WRC. With a straighter cut than the HRC and with a similar construction, the WRC is more race-like from an FIS perspective while keeping it at least somewhat approachable for expert skiers and former racers. Blizzard’s Firebird series represents the best of what you can buy when it comes to high end power and ski control. The WRC is the ski to be on when you want speed and power to go along with excellent styling.

Built with Blizzard’s Trueblend Race core, we get a less sophisticated build than some of the other skis in Blizzard’s line. This is due to the need for a blockier and more powerful feel. Trueblend Race uses a bunch of Ash wood in the central zone with a smattering of poplar stringers along the edges. For the most part, the Ash does the heavy lifting in the Race core, bringing with it a lot of strength and power. We also get three sheets of metal in this ski, which is one more than most race skis have, allowing skiers to fully lean into the powerful construction.

With a slightly longer turn shape than the HRC, the WRC uses a 68 mm waist width in the 180 to generate an 18.5-meter arc. This ski is most comfortable in that zone and doesn’t really like to be used in a shorter or more slalom-like capacity. If anything, it prefers to be used in a longer turn format to capitalize on the mix of super strong construction and an affinity for larger carves. This is a narrow ski, however, and isn’t too amenable to lazy skiing—you have to be on it, driving it with intent to get the most out of it. Like most skis with a strong race character, the Firebird WRC is a fully cambered ski with no rocker or taper to it at all. This provides a ton of energy and grip with zero compromises.

Due to the narrow nature of the ski, and the ridiculously strong construction, there’s not a huge audience here, at least from a versatile or all-mountain standpoint. This is a specific ski for expert level skiers, former racers, and technically proficient athletes who are looking for a tool to maximize performance.
