2027 Blizzard Zero G 105

The 2027 Blizzard Zero G 105 is an excellent example of a wider-bodied ski that has a focus on touring and uphill efficiency without losing downhill flotation and fun. These skis definitely have a touring-specific mentality to them, and that does take away from any type of resort-based hybrid use, and that's fine—they work great in backcountry and touring modes. Built and shaped to be used in distant mountain peaks and in deeper snow, the 2027 Blizzard Zero G 105 is an important ski because your levels of fun and safety depend largely on the ski's ability to perform.

Built with a paulownia wood core, the skis are quite light. They use Carbon Drive 3.0 to power the ski and keep the weight down. By using carbon along the length of the core, they create a consistent and responsive feel for downhill performance and reduce the amount of energy needed to make it up to the top of some huge mountains. In the 180 cm length, the skis sit on the scale at a stated weight of 1540 g/ski--not bad for something of this width. They have some stiffness to them as well, since you don't want a floppy ski stealing momentum if you're trudging through deeper snow.

At 105 mm underfoot, these skis are great floaters and can handle some deeper snow. They have Blizzard's early rise in the tips and tails, but we wouldn't call them overly or dramatically rockered. It's just enough to encourage flotation but not take away from climbing efficiency. Again, just like how the skis need to be stiff to stay on top of the snow when skinning, it's helpful to have a flatter profile to assist in pushing off at the same time. The 180 cm length uses measurements of 133/105/119 mm to generate a 23-meter turn radius. This longer arc is great for powder as it allows for a more drifty and smearier mentality.
