2027 Dynastar M-Free 100

Dyastar’s effort into graphics for the 2027 will likely pay off big time. The M-Free 100 gets a sharp new paint job that finally matches the energetic and versatile performance of the ski. We have a lot of awesome skis in the 100 mm range to choose from, and this M-Free separates itself with wonderful electricity, a smooth feel, and freestyle capability. This is a well-rounded option for a large group of skiers who are looking to mix on trail, off-piste, and park skiing without sacrificing performance.

Built with Dynastar’s Hybrid 2.0 core, we get three different layers of wood and a bunch of polyurethane along the sides. We’ve talked about this PU and its ability to smooth things out, and that certainly carries into the 2027 year. We get a good amount of stiffness underfoot to go along with the high camber profile, so the energy is right up there with the smoothness. Tester Fiona Reed states: “I again enjoyed this ski from Dynastar. In general, this lineup has a really good flow from turn to turn with a very progressive feel as they get up on edge and get into the turn, exiting the turn shape easily and naturally. They are easy to ski and somehow are able to go pretty darn quick without much effort from the skier yet still feel rewarding. However, if this is marketed as their freeride ski, nothing about it felt super free ride-y — really more of an all-mountain to me. They didn’t love air or pop and didn’t feel super versatile on more chopped-up terrain. Lovely in groomers, their ability to make flowy turns would probably feel fantastic in pow, but not super quick or maneuverable for tight technical stuff IMO.”

At 100 mm underfoot and with a twin tip shape, there’s a lot of versatility built in here. You can use it in the park, bumps, trees, or groomers, and it’ll slice it all fairly evenly. There’s some sharpness to the taper of the ski and quite a bit of drama in the rocker—these combine to make a very energetic and peppy ski. Tester Quenten Jones says that it “Feels very smooth but also lively. This would be super fun all over the mountain. Carves surprisingly well for its width, and I can imagine it being great in fresh snow in the trees.” The ski’s measurements of 131/101/123 in the 185 cm length generate an 18-meter turn radius which is a lot of fun as a starting point. You can let them run longer and tighten them up to make shorter swing turns as needed. Overall, this is a ton of fun based on the footprint and shape.

Due to the ski’s versatility, there’s a huge target audience here. The skis are able to make all sorts of turn shapes and styles in a variety of snow conditions and terrain. That makes it an easy choice for a lot of skiers, but also since it’s tough to pin down, it can be a slightly confusing option as well. We think that if you mix all-mountain and freeride and have an interest in the park, the Dynastar M-Free 100 is a great ski.
