2027 Rossignol Soul 92

The 2027 Rossignol Soul 92 is a new ski, following in the footsteps of its wider brother, the Soul 102. We’ve had the Sender Soul 92 for a few years, but this new ski has a different construction and a longer length to suit the needs of more advanced and aggressive skiers while keeping the waist width to a versatile 92 mm underfoot. This ski makes a strong case for mixing all-mountain and freeride, with a quick and agile nature to go along with strong edge grip and a fun-loving character.

Built with a poplar wood core, the skis utilize lighter weight construction for the most part. Similar to the 102, the 92 uses a titanal beam underfoot, line control technology in the center spine, Air Tip for reducing swing weight, and a rectangular sidewall for pure edge grip. The flex is on the stiffer side, especially in the tail and underfoot, but the shovel is open to bending at the skier’s input. Tester Jose Darias states that “This is a really versatile all-mountain ski with good carving capabilities. The ski feels strong and powerful when driven from the front on edges but makes turns with a more relaxed feeling that doesn’t require you to be super locked in for every turn. It’s not the most playful shape considering its rocket profile, shape and mount point but it is quite maneuverable when you ski it from a more neutral stance. It carves well for a mid 90 waist and while we don’t have much soft snow for the rest this year, its rocker profile suggests it’ll float over new snow pretty well.”

We find skis that are at or around 92 mm underfoot to be super useful anywhere, but especially here in Vermont. For the most part, each day is different and we never really know what the conditions are going to be like, so having a mid-width all-mountain ski makes a lot of sense. There’s enough rocker in the tips and tails to make quick work of the softer snow and there’s enough torsional stiffness underfoot to make fast turns on groomers and to deliver solid grip. In the 166 cm length, the skis use a 15-meter turn radius so really, they’re up for anything. Tester John McLaughlin calls it a “Great all-mountain ski that really holds a carved turn. It really grabs. Great on cruisers but I would feel comfortable skiing every and anything. I was surprised by how playful it was and how well it held an edge on a carved turn.”

Those types of experiences were pretty typical on the new Soul 92. We spent a good amount of time on it this year and noted that the versatility was a very strong point. While there are some stronger skis out there from a stability and damping standpoint, the Soul 92 is incredibly easy to use and has a lot to offer more aggressive skiers in terms of agility and mobility. This is a fantastic addition to Rossignol’s lineup and will satisfy the needs and wants of many intermediate through expert skiers.
