2027 Stockli Nela 93

The Stockli Nela 93 brings a lot of the same shaping principles that we've seen in the Stormrider 95 into a women's specific package. The Nela series does a great job at making approachable yet high-end skis for advanced and expert skiers who are looking to pair quality and precision with versatility. That is especially true with this Nela 93 as it's focused on making an any day all-mountain experience completely memorable.

Built with Stockli's Freeride Core, the Nela 93 consists of a mix of poplar, beech, and paulownia creating a smooth and energetic ride. They put two full layers of metal in the ski for damping and power. The upper laminate functions as the second titanal layer and the topsheet, so you feel basically nothing underfoot as a result. Stockli adds rubber to the tips to further dampen vibrations and keep the ski feeling totally suspended. With a softer flex, the Nela 93 is somewhat accessible, although the tail is still quite responsive and precise. Stockli states a weight of 1570 g/ski in the 163 cm length. Tester Alli Ruschp calls it "Mainly a resort ski with occasional trips into the side country, able turn easily in trees and bumps but it really wants to make bigger turns on open slopes. The Nela 93 is geared towards a more advanced skiers, while I think the Nela 86 has a wider range of ski abilities. The 93 is a bit beefer and stronger of a ski so it requires some input into the turn to really drive the ski around the turn. Always a dream to ski Stockli, they are smooth and stable, providing confidence in every turn."

At 93 mm underfoot, the Nela 93 is shaped and profiled to be polyvalent and capable of making all sorts of turn shapes in all sorts of conditions and terrain. It's a bit more angular in the tail, but the shovel does have enough taper to make it float well in deeper snow. The Nela 93 uses measurements of 130/93/117 to generate a 14.2-meter turn radius in the 163 cm length, although you can certainly push this ski to make longer turns with a lot of stability. E.V. Hamilton states: "My first impression of the Stöckli Nela 93s was how solid and confidence-inspiring they felt. It immediately stood out as a more planted, substantial ski. Very comfortable at high speeds. The Nela 93’s excel on groomers and firm conditions, with enough versatility to handle mixed terrain. The Nela 93's are built for an advanced skier. They are a strong, performance-oriented ski that favors an aggressive, technically sound skier who wants stability and precision."

These skis are certainly in the right spot to make a lot of skiers happy. They are smooth, precise, and powerful enough for expert skiers but are not overly demanding as to punish progressing intermediates. They provide a ton of confidence in adverse conditions and terrain and work surprisingly well in firmer snow and icy conditions when it comes to edge grip and carving performance.
