Redesigned from the ground up, the 2026 Atomic Maverick 86 C brings a new shape, updated construction, and added tech to the narrowest flat ski in the Maverick family. It’s lighter, more intuitive, and more versatile than ever, making it perfect for skiers who want a frontside-focused ride that doesn’t feel locked into the groomers.
Why we like it:
Atomic didn’t just tweak this ski, they rebuilt it with better balance and smoother turn initiation, making it more fun in variable conditions.
Who it's for:
A great fit for intermediate to advanced skiers who prioritize groomed performance but still want a ski that can venture into trees, bumps, or the occasional foray off-trail without hesitation.
Highlights:
New for 2026, the Maverick 86 C features a revised shape and rocker profile that feels more balanced and predictable. In fact, the 86 C is a bit of a mis-nomer; depending on the length of the ski, waist widths range from 86.5 mm to 89 mm, so these are a bit wider than the name suggests, giving them added versatility and stability in variable conditions. The switch to a Light Wood core shaves weight while keeping the ski energetic and responsive, and HRZN Tech in the tips helps the ski track through chopped-up snow, delivering additional float without compromising edge hold. With carbon reinforcement in place of metal, it stays smooth and stable without becoming overly demanding.
Things to consider:
While more versatile than ever, this ski still sits on the narrower side of all-mountain; those chasing powder days or more aggressive terrain may want to look at the wider Maverick models. With no metal in the ski, the 86 C may lack some stability at very high speeds.
Fit & sizing considerations:
These ski true to size. Stick with your standard length for well-rounded performance, or size down slightly for quicker handling on tighter terrain.
