2026 Salomon Lux Junior Skiswith SpeedMachine J Boots and Poles

Foundational skills come first on the Salomon Lux Jr, a lightweight junior ski for young skiers still figuring out how a turn works. A soft, forgiving flex and a narrow shape make it easy to maneuver at slow speeds, which is where most of the early learning actually happens. Kids get a friendly, controllable ski that builds confidence run after run. We paired the Lux with the Nordica Speed Machine Jr Boy’s ski boot because it provides young skiers with a solid blend of comfort, support, ad performance which with these skis will propel the development of their skills. Tailored for junior skiers who are progressing quickly, the Speed Machine Jr offers a secure fit with reliable performance no matter the terrain or snow conditions.

Who it's for:

Children in their first seasons still assembling the pieces of a turn. The narrow waist and forgiving flex favor light skiers on gentle, groomed terrain.

Things to consider:

The narrow, soft package that makes this easy also caps it early, and a kid who starts skiing quickly or leaving the groomed run will outgrow it fast. It has no real soft-snow ability, so powder days will be a struggle.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Take the shorter option whenever the choice is close, because confidence at this stage comes from a ski that responds immediately. Rather than sizing up for growth, plan on moving to the next ski when the child's technique, not just their height, calls for it.
