The Fischer Ranger Jr covers the whole hill for kids who have outgrown the beginner phase and started wandering. A smooth flex and a stable ride give a friendly, responsive feel on groomers, and there's enough shape to start poking into softer snow off to the side of the trail. Linking confident turns and exploring new terrain happen on the same ski, which is exactly what a growing skier needs. We selected to pair the Ranger Jr with the Rossignol Comp J Girl’s ski boots because of its comfort and reliable performance that it provides for beginner to lower intermediate skiers. Its soft flex, easy-to-use buckle system, and cozy liner, make these boots the ultimate match for these skis and skiers who need a reliable and user-friend boot that will help to improve their skill anywhere on the mountain.
Who it's for:
Children past the learning stage who are skiing most of the mountain and starting to explore. It fits confident beginners through intermediates who want a friendly ski that can still be pushed a little.
Things to consider:
This is a groomer-first ski, so while it will handle a lap through soft snow at the side of the trail, it isn't built for it. A young skier genuinely chasing freeride terrain should look at a wider twin tip.
Fit & sizing considerations:
Once a child is skiing the whole hill, a slightly longer ski starts paying off in stability without costing much maneuverability, so the upper end of their range becomes reasonable. Ability should still lead height, and a tentative kid is better off staying short another season.
