DESCRIPTION

The 2027 Rossignol Soul 92 with Tyrolia Attack 14 GW Bindings is new for the season, bringing the freeride spirit of the Soul family into a narrower, more on-trail-friendly package. It is an all-mountain ski for skiers who want a freeride feel without giving up resort capability, built around a poplar wood core with a central titanal beam and Air Tip technology for a balance of float, grip, and quick maneuverability. Progressive sidecut plus tip and tail rocker give it the versatility to be a real do-it-all option at this width. We paired the Soul 92 with the Tyrolia Attack 14 GW because of the Attack’s light weight, reliability, and ease-of-use for all mountain and freeride skiers. Additionally, ample elastic travel and direct power transmission function to ensure these bindings cater perfectly to the needs of demanding freeriders.

Why we like it:

Air Tip and the titanal beam together are what let this ski work across so many conditions. A hollow tip drops swing weight for quick, responsive handling while the central metal underfoot supplies real grip and stability the moment you commit to an edge, and the pair keeps the Soul light and playful without ever feeling underbuilt.

Who it's for:

Intermediate to advanced skiers who want one ski to handle the full mountain, freeride in personality but with enough edge grip to enjoy a groomer day. It fits especially well for skiers stepping up from a frontside ski into something with more off-trail capability.

Highlights:

Narrowest model in Rossignol's redesigned Soul lineup, the 92 mm waist here sits alongside the wider Soul 102 as the more all-mountain-leaning of the two. A PEFC poplar wood core makes for a lively, accessible flex, and the central titanal beam underfoot hands the ski grip and predictability once you are on edge. Rectangular full sidewall construction keeps edge engagement crisp from end to end, while Air Tip insert technology lightens the front of the ski for easier swing and better float in soft snow. Tip and tail rocker combined with Rossignol's progressive sidecut produce a smooth, intuitive turn shape and a forgiving release at the tail, so nothing about this ski feels locked into one kind of turn. With a low stand height of just 17 millimeters, the 2027 Tyrolia Attack 14 offers an impressively close connection to the snow, delivering precise power transmission and a confident, locked-in feel. The FR Pro3 toe piece allows for a full 180 degrees of boot release, enhancing safety in a variety of fall scenarios, while the AFS (Anti-Friction Slider) ensures reliable re-centering and consistent release characteristics. Built to withstand hard use, the Attack 14 combines durability with performance, making it a go-to option for aggressive skiers who demand trust in their gear.

Things to consider:

Because the titanal beam is central rather than full-length, this ski will not charge through tracked-up chop the way a heavier metal-laminate freeride ski does. Skiers wanting more stability at speed should look at the Soul 102 or Sender Free 118 within the same line.

Fit & sizing considerations:

Stick with your usual all-mountain length, dropping down if you want a more playful, easy-pivoting feel or moving up for extra stability through variable snow.

A bit more rigid than I used to be but still trying to be dynamic, smooth, and fluid with varying degrees of success. Skis on the snow, these days.

Location, Terrain, Snow Conditions Notes
Skied at Waterville in NH in a snowy day, and at Stowe on a similar snowy day--all sorts of terrain and snow conditions.
Did this length feel short, long, or just right? Would you recommend sizing up or down, or does it ski "true to size?" Would you choose this length for yourself?
This is the right length for me. It's the longest one, and I don't think I'd want to go shorter because they're pretty light.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
Overall this is a very well-rounded ski with a pleasant disposition and a nice character. It doesn't stand out in terms of power or demand, but it's got some kick to the rear of the ski that makes it feel like a high end product.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
At 92 mm underfoot, this is an all-terrain, all-conditions ski for sure. It worked great in choppy snow, although there are sturdier skis. It worked fine on groomers, but again, some skis make it feel a bit lighter duty.
What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?
This ski is squarely in the advanced category, but it can dip into both intermediate and expert realms with ease depending on the skier.
Anything else you want to tell us about your experience on these skis?
The Soul 92 is a great bump ski, works good in trees, and is an easy and predictable carver. One of the more well-rounded new skis this year!
