Back again for another season, the Atomic Maverick 100 Ti is an impressive ski that strikes a nice blend of feeling both lightweight and quick and strong and stable at speed. Atomic uses what they call Omatic core (yes, that’s the letters from Atomic re-arranged), which consists of a Light Woodcore and relatively thin metal laminates. We get HRZN Tech in the tip, paired with a good amount of tip rocker, although unlike the Bent collection, there’s no HRZN Tech in the tail and the ski has more of a directional shape. There’s some tail rocker back there, but not a tremendous amount. Despite using metal in its construction, the 180 cm length achieves just an 1800 g weight per ski. In our first season testing the Maverick skis and the 100 Ti, we found it to be exceptionally well-rounded. It blurs the line between all-mountain and freeride while providing an impressive mix of performance characteristics that will be enjoyed by a wide range of skiers.

We were excited to put Zach Mooney on it in this year’s test. He’s got a strong race background and it’s always valuable to see if a ski will hold up to his demands. Zach tested the 180 cm length, which he thought skied true to size, but also noted that it was just a touch too short for him. That makes his feedback even more impressive, however, as we still see 5 out of 5 scores for stability, torsional stiffness/edge grip, and overall impression. It was, hands-down, quite impressive to see what he was able to do on the Maverick 100 Ti. “The Atomic Maverick 100 TI is an absolute ripper of a ski. It carves second to none in the 100 waist category. When on edge it tracks like a GS ski, which is amazing but also difficult in tight spots. This ski likes to go FAST.” With his freestyle background, Noah Labow provided an alternative perspective to Zach and is perhaps the best representation of just how well rounded and versatile the Maverick 100 Ti is. Noah also tested the 180 cm length and awarded the ski almost perfect scores, with only flotation and stability dropping to a respectable 4 out of 5. “Loved this ski, I would ride it everyday. Good Carver, light and versatile. String daily driver!”
Having worked for our company for about 6 years now, Brad Schauerman has tested a lot of skis, which makes his feedback on a ski like the Maverick 100 Ti that much more valuable. Brad also opted for the 180 cm length, which he thought was “just right.” From Brad, we got a full set of 4 out of 5 scores. While not as impressive as Noah’s results, 4s across the board is a strong indication of a great ski. “I really like these skis...they would make a great one ski quiver that can really do it all, slash powder, ski bumps, and lay over turns on the hard packed. Super fun super versatile.” Steve McKenzie also hopped on the 180 cm length, which he actually thought felt a little long for its size. Steve was most impressed with their stability and grip, which is notewortht given his strong background and powerful skiing style. 5 out of 5 marks for stability and torsional stiffness/edge grip. Steve didn’t find quite the same versatility or maneuverability as some of our other testers, admitting that he had a bit of trouble when taking them off-piste, but that “back on piste I opened the throttle and these skis were hard charging and solid as a rock cutting through whatever crud lay before it. Super confident feel on edge at high speeds with a little bit of everything on trail.”
If you’re shopping in the ~100 mm waist width category and looking for a highly versatile ski, the Maverick 100 TI should certainly be on your list. Throughout the past two seasons, the majority of skiers we’ve put on it have been quite impressed. There will always be some who don’t love a particular ski, and that’s perfectly fine. It’s always important to remember that ski performance is ultimately quite subjective, so don’t let get too hung up on the dislikes of a single skier. Rather, we think it’s been proven that the Maverick 100 Ti will satisfy most skiers that get on it. It’s light, it’s strong, it’s relatively agile in tight terrain, and it’ll take you anywhere on the mountain without complaining. In our opinion, that says a lot.
