The Atomic Maverick 95 Ti is entering its second season with no major changes aside from a graphics refresh. These skis epitomize what an all-mountain ski should be, striking an excellent balance between stability and maneuverability. Atomic does a great job keeping the weight to a minimum, while still including metal in the ski’s construction. This is achieved through their Omatic core along with thinner metal laminates than we often see. The 180 cm length comes in right around 1800 g, which is quite a bit lighter than most skis in this width range that use metal. It’s a directional all-mountain ski with more tip rocker than tail rocker and HRZN tech just found in the shovel. There is, however, suitable tail rocker for the ski’s purpose, both providing a strong finish to a turn, but not feeling locked into a specific radius carve or turn shape.

Bob St.Pierre tested the 180 cm length, which he thought was too short for him, yet still provided enough stability to feel confident. Bob’s highest score was for quickness/maneuverability at 5 out of 5, but we still saw solid 4 out of 5 scores for stability, torsional stiffness/edge grip, versatility, and overall impression. “Light, stiff, and a heck of a lot of fun. The Maverick 95 Ti sets itself apart from a lot of other mid-90's all-mountain skis in that it is approachable, but with a very strong and energetic response. I think that a lot of skiers who want the performance of a dual-metal laminated ski but don't want to deal with the weight will gravitate to the Maverick 95. It's totally versatile--capable of being skied any day, anywhere.” Jeff Neagle also skied the 180 cm length, which for him, was perfect. We saw very similar scores from Jeff, although his high mark was for versatility at 5 out of 5, with the remainder of his scores hovering around 4. “Fantastic all-mountain ski. Super versatile. Transitions between carving and skidded turns very nicely. It's looser than most skis in this category with metal. That sets is apart from competitors nicely, and also allows for more playful skiing if you take it into moguls, trees, softer snow, etc. It doesn't feel like it's pulling you into a carving turn because of the straighter cut to the tip and HRZN Tech construction, so it might not be best for skiers who value carving over everything else. That said, if you give it enough skier input, it'll make some awesome carves and has plenty of grip, so kind of just a matter of whether you like that feel or want something that initiates a turn for you.”
Greg Petrics had a similar reaction to the Maverick 95 Ti after skiing the 188 cm length. “The personality of this ski is that of an all-around ski with a little bit of an eye on the powder day. The ski is really strong when it finds some choppier snow, and the wider shovel, and little bit of early rise lets the skis shape do its thing. The ski feels a bit lifeless on the firmest snow, but if you are blessed with true packed powder groomers, this ski will do fine there as well.” We didn’t see any outstanding scores from Greg, rather just a lot of scores in the 3 and 4 range. Greg didn’t find quite as much grip as others, but loved its versatility and overall feel with those scores hitting 4 out of 5. We think the feedback from Jeff and Greg is quite valuable. If you’re focused on carving, there may be better option for you, but the versatility of the Maverick and soft snow performance is topnotch. Jamie O’Brien and Mike Aidala seemed to agree. Both skiers hopped on the 180 cm length and had a blast on the Maverick 95 Ti. “The Maverick 95ti skis are a great lightweight, solid, stable and yet playful all-mountain ripper with the power of titanal where you need it. Honestly for being as light in weight, the Maverick 95ti skis do an awesome job handling all terrain with the versatility and power you need for that one ski quiver to handle it all. If you are an advanced to expert skier that wants that lightweight, versatile one-ski for everything the new Maverick 95ti skis may be the option for you!” Jamie loved its soft snow performance and even went as far to say that’s where you’re going to get the best feel out of it. “Fun ski that needs fresh snow to shine! Very playful and versatile ski that will provide lots of smiles.”
If you’re looking for a highly versatile ski that feels fantastic in off-piste terrain and soft snow, but can still lay over some impressive arcs, you’ll love the Maverick 95 Ti. It kind of feels like it just splits the category perfectly in half. There are skis that are heavier and more powerful, there are skis that are lighter and more agile, but the Maverick 95 Ti is extremely well-rounded, superbly versatile, and would make a great daily driver/one-ski-quiver for a whole bunch of skiers out there.
