There aren’t many names in freestyle and freeskiing as iconic as Tom Wallisch. Tom’s rise to stardom and dominance in park skiing was swift, breaking new ground with innovative rail tricks and an impeccably clean style. His skiing has left an unmistakable mark on the sport and is evident in the fact that he gets both a pro model ski and boot from Line and Full Tilt. This Tom Wallisch Pro is specifically designed to give him the right tool when lapping in the park. Sure, Tom might not be standing on the top of many podiums these days, but he continues to be a leader in the sport and consistently releases jaw-dropping footage throughout the season. If that footage is from the terrain park, you can bet he’s on a pair of his Tom Wallisch Pro model skis.

At 90 mm underfoot, the Tom Wallisch Pro strikes a nice balance between edge-to-edge quickness and versatility for softer snow conditions. Tom is known for his precision on rails, and this width allows for quick switch ups and easy spins on and off rails. The rockered tips and tails also make it less catchy, whether you’re shuffling around a landing or if the timing of your switch takeoff isn’t quite as perfect as Tom’s. While it’s designed predominantly for park skiing, the rocker/camber/rocker shape, 90 mm waist width, and 19 m turn radius give it a fun feel around the rest of the mountain too. It’s more symmetrical than most skis, so a directional skier might feel a bit weird on it, but if you’re used to more centered skis, you won’t have any trouble cruising around the whole mountain when you’re not lacing tricks in the terrain park. Line uses their Maple Macroblock wood core in this ski, and the flex pattern of the TWP is actually on the stiffer side compared to most of Line’s twin tips. That provides more stability for landing massive park jumps, while also providing a nice energetic, snappy feel when popping onto rails.

Jeff Neagle skied the 178 cm length and thoroughly enjoyed the Tom Wallisch Pro. His highest scores were for quickness/maneuverability, playfulness, and overall impression, all earning full 5 out of 5 scores. “To me, this is basically the perfect park ski. I never feel a need to go narrower than this. 90 mm to me is plenty quick for technical tricks and just gives you a little more ski to stand on if the snow isn’t perfect. Nice combination of feeling light and agile on your feet, but also with a supportive flex pattern. It won’t beat you up if you land a little backseat, but it does feel like the ski will help keep you upright on landings if your weight isn’t perfect. If I owned this ski, I would use it mostly in the park. If you’re the type of skier who has a multi-ski quiver, that’s probably going to be true for you too, but if you just want a single pair of skis for the park and that can handle the rest of the mountain too, these will do just fine.”

We think Jeff’s recommendation is spot on. The Tom Wallisch Pro is definitely the best for a skier who spends a significant amount of their time in the park. Even someone splitting their time more 50/50 might want a more versatile all-mountain ski like the Chronic or Vision 98, but those skis don’t have the quickness or precision of the Tom Wallisch Pro. Essentially, if you want to be like Tom and turn heads with your skills in the park, these are the skis for you.
