This 2023 Nordica Unleashed 108 could be found in the dictionary under “modern freeride ski.” These new skis from Nordica are a wonderful blend of power, stability, flotation, control, and playfulness. The amount of performance Nordica is able to eke out of a 108-mm twin tip is inspirational. It’s a pretty fair comparison to the Enforcer 110, but with less metal and a slightly different rocker profile. Either way, we were very impressed with the ski and its ability to perform strongly even in non-powder conditions. But when the snow piled up, these skis really came into their own. Built with a full wood core, one sheet of terrain-specific metal, and carbon stringers embedded in a fiberglass laminate, the Unleashed 108 is a solid ski, but in no way feels sluggish or difficult.

The shape is a bit different in that there’s more splay than Enforcer, but shorter rocker. This gives the ski more of a freestyle personality than a drifty freeride one. It’s going to hook up better than the Enforcer 110, regardless of snow conditions, so it’s a bit quicker, but slightly less floaty/smeary. In the 186, the skis weigh 2120 grams per ski and produce a 19.7-meter turn radius. These are strong numbers for a freeride ski, and the amazing part is that they don’t sacrifice any playfulness.
On the longer 191, Bob St.Pierre noted that “this is what I’m talking about!” While the 186 would likely be enough, it’s always fun to get on the longer versions of skis, and for someone who’s 6’2 225 pounds, it makes sense to get on the big ones. He scored the ski top marks of 5 out of 5 for flotation, playfulness, and overall impression. Quickness and maneuverability got a lower score of 2, while versatility, forgiveness, and stability all were in the 3-range. “This is a crazy-good ski, and the most impressive part is that it’s pretty darn fun on the groomers, too, and that’s something you can’t quite say about a lot of ~108’s out there. It feels like the Dynastar M-Free 108 a bit, which I also really like, but the Nordica just has an extra boost of power and dampness that the Dynastar does not have. On the other end, a ski like the Armada Declivity 108 Ti has far more of a directional feel to it. In anywhere from 2 to 20 inches of snow, the Unleashed 108 is an amazingly fun ski. Even in softer groomers, the ski’s ability to turn is unmistakably Nordican, allowing advanced and expert skiers the added bonus of carving clean, deep, and round turns.”
The 2023 Nordica Unleashed 108 has a whole lot going for it when it comes down to flotation, grip, and playfulness. These fun-loving fat twins are an absolute blast in fresh, soft, and deep snow, while retaining a true Nordica feel on groomers and smoother snow. As a new ski for this upcoming year, we expect to see these on the feet of a lot of skiers looking to fill out the wide section of their quivers.
