The 2023 Rossignol Sender Ti Plus is an awesome freeride ski with a directional personality that floats and powers through fresh snow, crud, and chop with a remarkable amount of stability and strength. This is a real-deal big-mountain charger that loves to be operated at higher speeds and on the feet of more skilled and aggressive skiers. It’s kind of a handful, but a good kind. Rossignol puts all of their technology and engineering acumen into this ski, and it all comes out working quite well.

ROCKER PROFILE

CORE MATERIALS
Poplar PEFC Wood Core
Ti Plus Beam
Carbon Allot Matrix
PREFERRED TERRAIN
Big Mountain, Powder, All Mountain

Built with a poplar wood core, the Sender 106 gets a Ti Plus Beam (which is just a longer titanal beam versus the 104 and 94), Carbon Alloy Matrix to stiffen the ski both longitudinally and torsionally, Damp Tech, Air Tip, and Double LCT, these skis are insanely complex, but Rossignol does a great job at making them seem and feel like cohesive skis with phenomenal performance. Due to the poplar and extended metal, the 106 Ti Plus has a pretty different feel and personality than the 104 Ti, and that’s by design for sure. In the 187, the skis weigh 2200 grams per ski and produce a 21-meter turn radius. This makes them high-speed performers as well as amazing floaters due to the rocker profile and lighter-weight Air Tips.

Bob St.Pierre got a pretty fair shake at the 187, putting about 3 days total on the ski. He scored it top marks of 5’s out of 5 for stability, flotation, and overall impression. 4’s were not far behind for torsional stiffness and edge hold. Bob gave it lower scores of 2 out of 5 for playfulness, forgiveness, and versatility, but those lower scores are to be expected for more of a freeride ski like the Sender 106 Ti Plus. “This thing is a machine,” Bob notes. “A totally different animal than the 104 Ti. I actually skied the 106 for most of the day and then hopped on the 104 at the end, and the difference was pretty stark. The 104 felt like a front side slalom ski after the 106, which has way more Cadillac-like vibes to it. It’s smooth, strong, and incredibly solid. It takes a few runs to get used to because it doesn’t like to come around without some strong encouragement and input, but when it gets up to speed, it’s quite a pleasure to ski. It’s when you push it at slower speeds that you feel the ski’s sluggishness. Get it up above 20-25 mph, though, and this thing starts to light it up. The faster it goes, the smoother it gets.”

Big-mountain thrashers and ripping directional skiers will love the performance, power, and stability of the 2023 Rossignol Sender 106 Ti Plus. This is a different ski for sure versus the 104 Ti in terms of character and personality, making it more specific for advanced, expert, and aggressive skiers who spend more of their time in deeper and fresher snow.
