If you’re a fortunate enough skier to get on an Atomic Bent Chetler 120 on the right day, you’ve moved into a rare group in the skiing realm. The new 2025 Bent Chetler 120 takes it to the next level, delivering light weight and playful performance in any depth of snow. With tweaks to the construction and an amazing new graphic (as always), these skis take true freeride performance and make it their own. There’s nothing else like this ski out there on the market today. The rocker profile and taper shape is very much inspired from the freestyle world, giving the Bent Chetler 120 a very creative and versatile character, especially in deep and soft snow. Skiers should know what they’re getting into here, as this ski is best when used in truly bottomless powder. If you are looking for this as a moderately soft snow ski, there are better choices, but for the steep and deep, this thing is amazing.

Built with a light poplar wood core that extends tip to tail, and a carbon backbone for stiffness and energy, the build of the Bent Chetler 120 is sturdy enough to handle some aggressive skiing, while the blend of the ski’s shape, profile, and construction meets up harmoniously to provide the exact intended result when ski hits snow. Tester Brad Moskowitz had a great time on his 120, stating that it’s “Like the perfect powder weapon! Incredibly light and maneuverable for a ski of this size and girth. This ski just wants to play and slay in the soft snow environment.” Since we had some great soft snow, especially on day 3 of our test, Brad’s feedback rings true and he was not alone in these feelings and experiences. The 184 hits a stated 1800 grams on the scale as per Atomic’s site, and that’s pretty darn mobile for a ski of this width.

The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2025 Atomic Bent Chetler 120

The shape definitely stands out here, as the Bent Chetler 120 has some of the most dramatic rocker and most creative profiling out there. There’s a lot of splay in the tips and tails, adding to the skis flotation and playful character. With HRZN 3D Tech in the tips and tails, the ends of the ski are particularly amenable to staying on top of the snow and creating the ideal soft snow capacity. At 120 mm underfoot and with that lighter weight, agility is a huge plus here. Bob St.Pierre skied the 192, found the length to be perfect, and noted that “The Bent Chetler 120 creates an ideal platform to stand on in deeper snow. I skied it on two different powder days this year and was totally blown away each time. The ski is totally smooth and stable in deeper snow and even wind-affected conditions. The shape gives you ideal confidence when it comes to moving around the mountain.” With a slightly shorter turn radius, the agility and mobility of the ski are off the charts, making it a fairly accessible powder ski for the masses.

That said, this ski still won’t find its way to the feet of non-expert skiers that often. If you’re a progressing intermediate and you REALLY want this ski, you’ll be fine, but they are wide and hard to get up on edge if you’re in anything other than fresh snow. Aggressive advanced skiers and experts will have the most success and luck here as the intended application is big mountain and burly conditions and terrain. Feel free to give it a whirl if you can ever get the chance to ski this in its intended environment. It’s pure bliss and totally makes sense. All will be right in the world.
