The 2025 Blizzard Phoenix R14 Pro remains one of the most powerful frontside skis to date and we’re seeing it return on the scene unchanged, which is a very good thing. These skis are built to rip and for skilled skiers looking for endless edge grip, stability at speed and unbeatable power, the Phoenix R14 Pro has it all. Reaping the benefits of Blizzard’s race technology, the hefty build combined with a fully cambered profile and mid-range arc allows for slalom-style turns and impressive strength for on-piste domination. Whether you’re an ex-racer looking for the ideal tool or an expert skier wanting to add to their quiver, this ski is a top contender for a number of reasons.

Looking first at the construction, right off the bat it's clear that the build is substantial. This is crucial when it comes to this level of performance and power as heft and weight allows for a lot of stability and strength. Starting with a TrueBlend Pise wood core, this lays the foundation through the use of a mix of 11 beech stringers placed between 3 poplar blocks of wood. The reason for this specific placement is to achieve density and power from the beech and lightweight energy from the poplar. From there, we get two layers of titanal in a sandwich style composition to further boost the core and provide the powerful properties of metal. Lastly, an Active Carbon Armor laminate is positioned underfoot and extending towards the mid body and tail. This is an interesting application as it requires flexing the ski for the carbon to react and move to keep stiffness underfoot. In order to do so, the skier must apply pressure and strength to fully access the performance, hence why it is geared towards the upper echelon of skier. Weighing in at 1800 grams per ski, it is definitely on the heavy side of the spectrum which is important to keep in mind.

The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2025 Blizzard Phoenix R14 Pro

There’s no question about the shape as it lands right smack in the frontside arena. Looking at the dimensions in the 170 cm length, it measures 121/70/102 mm and generates a 14.5-meter turn radius. While it may seem surprising in such a carving-specific ski, this is a great mid-range arc that allows for total on-piste carving capabilities as well as short, accessible turns for daily groomer performance. With a wider width in the shovel, while this doesn’t necessarily assist with flotation, it encourages ease of use and smooth turn initiation. With 100% camber, it features a long effective edge from tip to tail, delivering exceptional ski-to-snow contact and edge grip.

As straightforward as it could be, this metal-infused, race-inspired ski is designed for expert frontside skiers who value power, precision, and stability. On any given day, the groomers are the place to be, so why not have the most capable carving tool out there? Not for the faint of heart, between the hefty build and the angular shape, those without the appropriate skillset will easily become reprimanded. However, if you have a racing background or an advanced skillset, the Blizzard Phoenix R14 Pro will be an excellent addition to your quiver.
