Talk about a ski that really checks a lot of boxes. The 2025 Rossignol Sender Soul 102 is a great example of a wider-bodied all-mountain ski that is a great floater, fun turner, and all-around fun-loving ski that’ll fit the needs and wants of a wide range of skier. These skis are based off the Sender 104 mold and share many of the same characteristics. The new 102 has slightly more tail rocker to increase the freeride creativity, but it still has the same energetic carving character that we all loved about the outgoing 104. The name harkens back to the Soul series of yesteryear—a model of skis that changed the game when dealing with floaty freeride performance. By pairing the old name with the newer build, Rossignol attracts a new set of skiers to these versatile skis. For those that are looking to mix the on-trail and the off, the Sender Soul 102 is a prime choice.

Built with a poplar wood core for energy and agility, the skis have a lot going for them out of the gate. Rossignol incorporates a titanal beam to the center portion of the ski to dampen vibrations and keep the ski smooth and stable. This isn’t the full span that we see in the wider 106 Ti Plus, but it works great with the intended use of the ski. We also get Air Tip technology that filters down through the years from the original Soul series, and their new take on the VAS vibration absorption system that is found in the shovel of the ski. This build isn’t too light, though, adding up to 1900 grams per ski in the 180—good enough for some power and heft but still light and agile due to the shape and profile. Tester Phil McGrory notes that the ski was “stiffer underfoot than I expected but felt stable while maintaining playfulness. It worked great in variable snow and terrain. This ski can handle chopped up snow but will still float when it is untouched. Nimble enough for trees and other variable terrain.” This is the blend that Rossignol banks on when designing a ski like Sender Soul 102.

The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2025 Rossignol Sender Soul 102

One of the interesting things about this ski is the size range. We get skis spanning from 156 to 188, opening up a large market for these mid-fat floaters. The sidecut of 136/102/126 mm creates a 16-meter turn radius in the 180 which is on the shorter side. This creates that fun-loving and energetic feel that many skiers enjoy. Even though there’s some weight, there’s still agility and mobility. The tail rocker increase is the most notable aspect, as these skis get some inspiration from the wider Sender Free 110 and 118 in terms of tail rise. It’s still not that dramatic, nor is it rounded—the squared shape still keeps the ski in check when finishing carved turns. Jack DiPiazza states that the ski is “Very well rounded. It's not the most playful ski, and it's not trying to be, but it carves well, is very predictable and has a nice balance of stabilty and forgiveness and despite the lack of standout playfunessl is easy to manage in bumps/ woods.”

This blend is what’s going to attract a lot of skiers. It’s not too difficult to manage, so that opens up the lower intermediate realm. Coupled with the access of the shorter length, these skis can punch either above or below their class with ease. Experts who are looking for a longer ski in the 188 that can still be amenable to shorter turns and more technical terrain will also enjoy this 102. By blurring the lines between all-mountain and freeride, the new Sender Soul 102 is going to be an all-encompassing ski for a variety of skiers and skier styles.
