2027 Atomic Bent 90

The 2027 Atomic Bent 90 returns structurally unchanged for this upcoming year, and that’s fantastic news for skiers who value quickness, agility, fun, and versatility. We do see a fresh new graphic, bringing the Bent collection into the same fold when it comes to great-looking skis. With a wide range of skier type and style to choose from, the Bent 90 appeals to a broad group. We also see a bunch of different sizes, ranging from 157 to 184, so there’s something here for everyone.

There’s not much going on with the construction, but Atomic continues to create fun-loving and peppy skis without relying on technological builds or engineering all that much. The Bent 90 is built with a light poplar wood core and that’s about it. We do see their HRZN Tech in the tips and tails, but that tech has always blurred the lines between build and shape. Atomic states the weight of the ski at 1600 g/ski at the 175 cm length, and that’s quite light. It’s great for those who feel they need a supremely agile ski, but if you’re looking for power, there needs to be some more mass, as noted by tester Sam Ferrino: “Thought it wouldn’t be as playful as it ended up being. It was lighter and more playful than I thought it would be. I’d rank this as one of my top all-mountain skis.” This also goes to show that a ski can be very light and still be an amazing all-mountain ski.

The shape stays the same, too, and makes for a very quick and agile product. This ski, with a nice well-rounded shape, makes for a good option for softer snow, bumps, and trees. This is still a directional ski with a twin tip shape but not a lot of tail rocker. Combined with positive camber underfoot, this ski has decent grip on firmer snow, but it’s still quite a bit less power than skis with a more front side oriented shape. We got some good feedback from tester Jose Darias, who states that “Softer snow would be a more friendly environment for the Bent 90, or at least more consistent snow. It’s a playful, maneuverable ski that would likely be right at home in medium sized moguls and trees, but I did not get the chance to ski them in that terrain to confirm.” It’s fun to suppose what a ski could do, and if you’ve been doing this long enough, it’s not too difficult to ascertain where a ski would be successful.

The Atomic Bent 90 continues the tradition of strong-willed yet approachable skis for intermediates through advanced skiers. This is not only a great learning tool for those who are looking to increase their exploration, creativity, and fun-loving levels out there on the hill. If you want a good bump ski that can easily maneuver through trees and even hold it down reasonably well on groomers, the Bent 90 is a fantastic option.
