2027 Blizzard Black Pearl 94

For 2027, the Blizzard Black Pearl 94 gets a graphics update but returns otherwise unchanged. This ski has a fantastic shape and style for mixing on and off-trail performance characteristics. It’s strong enough to lay down some serious arcs on the groomers, and it’s shapely enough to handle off-trail versatility. We love skis in the mid-90's for pure all-mountain performance, and this Black Pearl 94 is one of the best of the bunch. By focusing on a sophisticated construction, a fun-loving shape, and an engaging profile, Blizzard has a winner here with the Black Pearl 94. This ski works well on the feet of experienced skiers but can also be used as a learning tool for those looking to be more adventurous.

Blizzard does a great job bringing the sophistication and engineering of the build into center stage here. From a construction perspective, the use of TrueBlend wood core and Women’s Specific Design FluxForm technology takes top billing. TrueBlend uses poplar and beech stringers in a specific format in order to create a smooth, stable, and balanced feel from tip to tail. Since they are very specific with the length and location of the stringers, they can tailor-make the flex of the ski per length and model. Below that wood core, Blizzard puts in a carbon-infused fiberglass laminate for stiffness and response. On top, we get the FluxForm metal, consisting of one central strip of titanal and two frame, or arm, pieces. These are separated by a sheet of glass, so they work together with energy and stability. They’re not too heavy, though, with the 170 having a stated weight of 1840 g/ski. The flex is a bit on the stiffer side, so it feels a bit more advanced at this width. Tester Lauren Morton states: "No surprise that this ski is awesome. I would easily add this to my quiver, but it could definitely stand on its own. And definitely on the east coast. The ski thrives on the frontside but could handle mixed terrain. A strong advanced intermediate and up will really be able to unleash its potential."

The footprint of this ski is all about versatility and variation. The 94 mm waist does a great job of holding on to firmer snow in a carved turn while having the capacity to float and power through crud, chop, and softer snow. Featuring rocker in the tips and tails to go along with camber underfoot, these skis utilize dimensions of 132/94/114 mm to generate a 15.5-meter turn radius in the 170 cm length. These skis can go back and forth between front side and all-mountain with ease. Tester Mar Kuhnel notes that "There’s a reason why these are so popular! While they’re nothing outrageously fun and exciting to me they’re solid, confident, easy to ski, and very all-around capable. Intermediate to expert, these are easy to turn at slow speeds but also offer lots of support for when you’re going faster and at higher edge angles. Solid ski with a huge sweet spot!"
