2027 Liberty Scope 104

For mid-fat freeride fun, the 2027 Liberty Scope 104 is here for your soft snow needs. This wide twin tip is a great option for those who spend most of their time searching for playful features in deeper snow. With an updated construction and a creative shape, the Scope 104 is a top option for those who love to mix tricks into their normal skiing routines. We find that this 104 is a good sweet spot in terms of flex and weight for the Scope lineup as it has enough mass and volume to hold up to more rigorous and aggressive skiing while keeping playfulness and creativity totally intact.

Built with Liberty’s Recoil core consisting of poplar and bamboo, the skis have a light and mobile base on which to work. The bamboo provides a lot of silence and composure when things get weird, and we’ve found it acts as an insulating layer to keep vibrations and chatter to a minimum. They add carbon stringers to the top of the core to add energy and rebound, and then a phenolic plate underfoot to boost edge grip. While the flex is stiffer underfoot, it’s quite amenable in the tips and tails. They have weight due to the volume but overall are not hefty skis in terms of swing weight or any lack of mobility.

The mid-100's is a great place to be for mixing softer snow and variable terrain. We find that this ski, at this width, works very well when it comes to handling deep powder but also in situations where you need some mobility and agility. Even in tighter and technical zones, the Scope 104 takes care of business. We get a sidecut split of 134/104/124 that generates a 20-meter turn radius in the 180 cm length. While it can make those longer, more loping arcs, it’s also more than happy to tighten it up and make some shorter, driftier, and smearier turns especially as the terrain and snow conditions allow. The drop of 10 mm from tip to tail width does make this ski fall more on the directional side of the twin tip realm; it’s still a very freestyle-oriented and capable ski due to the amount of splay in the tips and tails. While park performance isn’t quite on the agenda due to width, the backcountry and natural feature portions of the ski world are right in this ski’s wheelhouse.

We think that there are a lot of skiers who could benefit from the shape and style of this ski. If you’re looking for a first foray into freeride twins, this one isn’t too demanding. It has a solid and capable feel to it that affords good approachability while the shape is more than happy to be manipulated and played with in various conditions. It’s got a high end feel with a silent nature, and that’ll inspire confidence for skiers who don’t normally feel comfortable on a mid-100's freeride ski.
