With Liberty changing a whole lot of what they do, the 2025 Scope 104 has a new path to both blaze and follow. By totally revamping their lineups and models, the Scope 104 can only loosely be tied to the Origin 106 when discussing parallels. In reality, this is a totally different ski with a unique personality and perspective on the mountain. We get added flexibility with a similar shape and profile, making this a more playful and creative ski for fun seekers and adventurers who are looking for the entirety of the all-mountain experience. When you first get on a Scope 104, the first thing you’ll notice is just how easily they enter a turn. After that, the mid-section of the ski feels surprisingly stiff. At the tail of the ski, we get right back to that creative and playful feel that we know and love from our dedicated freeride skis.

Built with a blend of ash and poplar in the wood core, these skis have an interesting mix of woods. While ash is normally reserved for higher end race skis, it does show up in freeride options every now and then, but in this case, it’s used thinly and sporadically to boost the flex out of the ski. This is a freeride ski with freeride intentions. They love to be used in playful and creative applications more than anything. Underfoot, the ski uses phenolic plates to boost the stiffness and grip. Phenol is used mainly in race ski sidewalls to increase the firm snow feel in the middle zones. When it’s used horizontally, it makes a big difference with the character of the ski. This is a good way of using race-like performance characteristics to boost the ski’s on-trail personality. They are light, though, using a lot of the aspects in a thinner and more subdued manner. Phil McGrory states that this “Ski was very fun and playful. Had a lot of bounce through variable terrain but didn't get deflected when cutting through the chop was needed.”

The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2025 Liberty Scope 104

The shape of this ski has a lot more in common with the outgoing Origin 106 in terms of rocker and taper. The Scope 104 still has a lot of tip and tail rocker paired with high camber underfoot. With the flexible nature of the build, the camber picks up the slack to produce the energy. Tester Bob St.Pierre states that “The flex and the shape line up very well in the Scope 104. It's a softer ski and bends easily. This is a dream in softer snow but is more difficult to manage in firmer stuff, not that it's meant to be there. Great wide twin tip for creative and playful skiing.” The twin tip makes a lot of sense for this ski as it allows for a more fun-loving and freestyle experience. With round taper and a longer turn radius, this ski is smooth and mobile in a variety of conditions and terrain.

Ski was very fun and playful. Had a lot of bounce through variable terrain but didn't get deflected when cutting through the chop was needed. For a skier who likes to hop around throught the woods or chopped up fresh snow, this ski is great for that because of its playfulness combined with the confidence of its stable feel.
Phil McGrory

This is a unique ski with a very narrow set of qualities. As such, it’s going to be a specific tool for a job, allowing skiers to max out on their fun and creativity. This is a very accessible ski for intermediate and advanced skiers looking to get into the mid-100's freeride division. Thanks to Liberty’s long-standing tradition of making fun and freeride-oriented skis, this next iteration of skis makes a lot of sense. While we’ll miss talking about bamboo in the core and vertical metal technology, this next step will bring about spirited conversations of mixing firm and flex throughout the ski.
