2027 Nordica Enforcer 89

The 2027 Nordica Enforcer 89 gets a graphic update but returns structurally unchanged. As the narrowest of the Enforcer line, the 89 is the most front side and on-trail oriented and will fit as a single ski or even as a narrower option with wider skis for softer days. We find this ski to have an uncommon amount of confidence and power as it works incredibly well for aggressive skiers who have a good skillset.

Nordica uses a thick wood core to power this ski. They use a blend of poplar and beech in their multi-layer wood core. The Enforcer series has always been known to use two full sheets of metal, and the 2027’s still do, but these new skis use a 4 mm narrower layup overall, putting more emphasis on the central spine while leaving the sides to be quicker and with a lighter swing weight. Underfoot, Nordica dampens the vibes with a Pulse Core laminate. This is used in other Nordica skis like the Dobermann and Steadfast to curtail noise, and it seems to work here as well. With a weight of around 2000 grams and a stiff tail, it’s not terribly surprising to hear general feedback about the sturdy nature. Tester Matty Kuhnel states that “This ski demands concentration and gives back what you put into it. The enforcers like to be on edge and are confident being there. They ski on the stiff side with no notable twist and are perfectly dampened for charging down the slopes. They bust through crud and are forgiving in variable surfaces situations. I own a pair of Enforcer 100’s and use them often in all sorts of conditions. The 89s felt like they held a better edge, and were a little faster in transitioning, as expected. I could not overpower these skis and made me feel comfortable at high speed. Good for bumps and great for carving back up the hill. Overall, a great ski.”

This ski, for how well it carves and for how sturdy it feels, still has a shape based in freeride DNA. The ski hooks in to a turn with relative ease and holds a round turn through the arc. With a 17.5-meter turn radius in the 179, this ski turns on a dime. Since it shares a similar overall footprint with the wider and more freeride-inspired skis in the Enforcer line, the 89 still has the capacity to operate in softer snow, but the preference falls more to the carving and on-piste realm. Tester Matt McManus notes that “This felt like a very front side focused ski that could handle some all-mountain conditions as a side benefit. It was a stable ski that provided a confident feeling on groomers and held an edge well. It definitely rewards good form and a strong input, which are just about required to get it to perform well. As a front side carver, it was very capable. I'm not sure I would want to spend much time in bumps or woods on them, unless there were fairly straight lines through them, however.”

The 2027 Nordica Enforcer 89 has a powerful and stable character. This ski falls in the advanced and expert category due to shape, construction, and power. This ski is pretty darn solid and holds up to some seriously aggressive skiing. We do think there’s an opportunity for progressing and improving skiers here, especially if they understand that there’s some effort to put into the process. Because it’s a narrower overall shape but with a freeride style, it does seem accessible for quicker turns, especially if you go to a bit shorter of a length.
