2027 Rossignol Nova 8

The 2027 Rossignol Nova 8 is a fun carving ski that loves to be on edge. Ladies who are looking for a confident, poised, and zippy ski for cutting clean arcs across the fall line should take a square look at the Nova 8. Rossignol does a fantastic job implementing women-specific design in their skis, bringing a lot of engineering, feedback, and customization into the mix. Due to their diligence in creating a ski with a properly tuned flex and turn shape, skiers who love the feeling of a purely carved turn will thoroughly enjoy the mix of pep and power in the Nova 8.

Built with a poplar wood core, the skis are relatively light and easy to engage. The sophistication and engineering comes in the use of their Carbon Alloy Matrix in a V-Profile shape. By mixing carbon and basalt stringers in a matrix style, Rossignol basically indents this laminate through the central spine to create more of a three-dimensional aspect. Whenever you are taking material and adding a dimension, you’re stiffening that material. Rossignol does it with their metal laminates in some of their higher end skis and they do it with their CAM laminates as well in these skis. In the 156 cm length, the skis weigh a stated 1555g/ski according to Rossignol.

Featuring measurements of 128/75/111, the skis produce a paltry turn radius of 10-meters. The short-turning style of these skis is ideal for linking short carves and slalom-style turns for intermediate and advanced skiers. While they go fast in turns, they’re not straight-line machines since they have a lot in common with across the fall line shapes. While Rossignol claims a bit of tip rocker for early and easy turn initiation, the skis are mainly cambered and have a decent amount of camber height at that. This allows for a more energetic and zippier feel as the camber provides pop and rebound in the finish phase of the turn.

The Nova 8 works great for progressing carvers looking to make the most out of their on-piste days. There’s not a lot of versatility built in from an all-mountain standpoint, but if you’re looking for a slightly wider-bodied ski that can handle degrading conditions through the afternoons, it’s nice to have a bit of extra width to help smooth out unfavorable snow surfaces.
