2027 Rossignol Soul W 92

The 2027 Rossignol Soul W 92 is an all-new ski with a new name and style. We’ve seen sorta versions of this ski over the past few years with the Rallybird Soul 92, but this ski is considerably different. It’s built the same way as the wider 102, but with a more versatile and all-mountain oriented width. Skiers who split their time between on-trail carving and off-piste adventures will thoroughly enjoy the ease of use and the stellar edge grip of these skis. If you are a fan of bumps or trees, these skis will work great for you and your spirit.

Built with a poplar wood core, the Soul W 92 uses a titanal beam in the underfoot zone to provide more edge grip and a damp feel. They use Air Tip technology in the shovel to keep the ski’s swing weight light and the ski mobile overall. They’re not too stiff, especially in the tips, but they do have consistent flex in the tails in the underfoot zone. In the 158 cm length, we see a stated weight of 1400 g/ski so they do have a lighter overall character. Tester Fiona Reed states: “Woohoo! This is a great all-around versatile all-mountain ski. They ski extremely similarly to the Santa Ana 93 that are my daily driver, just a bit lighter and an iota less good at carving. I really enjoyed them on the groomers, they’re super responsive and quick on edge, lots of pop and energy return in bumps and the short run of upper Nosedive glades that I tested them on. You could whip them around, very snappy, get little bits of air between moguls as you launch between directions, with a lower swing weight and lighter feel than the Santa Anas. Fantastic at hop turns.”

At 92 mm underfoot, these skis have the ability to be polyvalent and capable of tackling all sorts of different aspects of the resort. We get a sidecut split of 125/91/115 in the 158 cm length to generate a 14-meter turn radius. These like to make shorter turns and if the snow is good, you can feel comfortable and confident letting it run a bit more. We see decent rocker in both tips and tails, but these are still on the directional side of the spectrum. Tester Emily Sampson notes that “This is a super fun ski, playful and quick. I felt like I was on a slalom ski and skied about 5 cm shorter than it is. I could see her skiing down a trail, popping into the woods and back out through some moguls. This ski did hold an edge but slipped a bit with aggressive pressure, so someone who is a little lighter on their skis may find this more enjoyable. This ski felt comfy on the hard stuff today but I think she could be happier on packed powder.”

We think these will have pretty good success this year as many skiers are looking for something that’s easy to use, a lot of fun, and supremely versatile. The Rossignol Soul W 92 has all that going for it for sure. If you want to expand your boundaries on the mountain and have some solid adventures, this is a great ski for that capacity. When you get back on the groomers, it does a great job at holding steady and providing excellent energy at the finish phase of the turn.
