2027 Dynastar M-Pro 98 W

For 2027, we get a new graphic here but otherwise the ski returns structurally unchanged. The 2027 Dynastar M-Pro 98 W is a fun, stable, and versatile ski for high-speed cruising and off-trail adventure. Ideally suited for advanced and expert skiers who like the feel of metal and a nice round turn, these skis will rip groomers and dance through powder with ease, grace, and poise. They do a great job at blurring the lines between all-mountain and freeride based on the mix of shape and finesse.

Dynastar uses sophisticated construction in these skis. By milling one part of the wood core and joining it with another, Dynastar fuses two different layers of poplar together without using adhesive. This approach is impressive in that it achieves a refined build without using a lot of materials while also delivering instant feedback as a result. Polyurethane strips are placed on the outer portions of the core, which does a great job at keeping the ski light while greatly reducing unwanted vibrations. We get a partial metal laminate in these skis. The long, thin placement in the forebody and long, wide placement in the tails changes to a shorter shape in both front and back of the ski. This allows for easier mobility and release from the tails. It also encourages easier entry into a turn with additional flotation and flex from the tip. Speaking to Dynastar’s vision of greater accessibility, this M-Pro 98 W requires slightly less skier input and a more relaxed feel. Tester Annie MacDonald notes that the ski was “much stiffer than I expected. Packed a punch and was really stable! Surprised at how well the ski performed in all terrain. Stiff enough to carve in the hard pack but also performed well in the heavy corn!” That versatility is key when mixing all-mountain and freeride attributes.

The footprint of the ski is where we see some drama and differences from the rest of the skis in this zone. The tip rocker and taper is quite obvious and lends to softer snow performance as well as easier entry into the turns. In the tail, we again see a longer profile although it's not quite as shapely as in the tips so the skis can lock in and finish turns with relative aggressiveness. The skis use a sidecut split of 132/98/122 in the 162 cm length to generate a 15-meter turn radius so these skis love to come across the fall line when engaged. Tester E.V. Hamilton states “Anything. I was not expecting to be able to freight train through slushy bumps in these… but I did. These skis inspire confidence. They are solid, surprisingly stiff (in the best way!) and made me totally feel in control in wet bumpy snow. Of everything I skied in the last two days, these are absolutely my favorite. I can tell I would love them on a more typical VT day. They feel like they’re meant for ripping down groomers or a super G racecourse … but they look like fat floaty powder skis. I am in love.” Again, the mix of shape and build stands out to many of our testers.

These skis work well in an everyday format with a softer snow lean. If you spend a lot of time in adventure mode but don't want to give up precise on-piste performance, the blend of shape and build works quite well. Skiers of the advanced and expert realm will love the floaty yet responsive nature of the M-Pro 98 W as these skis can move a lot of snow yet dig right in when asked.
