2027 Liberty Horizon 100

For 2027, we get a new width in the Horizon division, with this 100 bringing a wider flair to the all-mountain lineup. This ski certainly borders on splitting all-mountain and freeride, with a sturdy build to go along with a progressive shape. We think this ski will work great for intermediates and up—especially for those who are looking to become more adventurous and explorative in their skiing. It works great in the resort setting since it's got a good carving character, but when you want to take it off-piste and into deeper snow, it holds up there, too. Mostly, it does prefer slightly softer snow, but can still be fun on hard pack if the skier has a bit more skill.

The Horizon 100 is built with Liberty's Precision Core, and it is pretty cool. They use a mix of poplar, bamboo, and ash in the core to go along with carbon stringers and a titanal layer. The metal is found mostly in the underfoot zone and it tapers to a point both ahead of and behind the binding zone. The mix of wood and the metal combine to make a fairly silent and composed ski with great suspension. If you are motoring through crud and chop, these skis will feel confident and ready to take on the next turn. They're not too stiff, so that compliance is boosted by the ski's ability to absorb adversity within the snowpack. The footprint of the ski leans to softer snow versatility but certainly doesn't remove carving and front side use from its priority list. It's better suited to slightly more forgiving conditions, but it's still fun overall. We get measurements of 135/100/123 that generate a 15-meter turn radius in the 159 cm length. This is mainly due to the use of more gradual taper that bring the widest parts of the ski closer together for easy turning and crisp carving. These skis do borrow some freeride notes in terms of rocker as there's quite a lot of curvature to the tips and tails here. Tester Camille Nichols notes that "This ski feels like it’s made for Colorado bluebird pow days! It performed well in our east coast ice conditions but feels like it wants more snow. For all terrain, whether it’s groomed moguls or steep and pow."
